GLoP Live in Manchester: Wood Shampoo

Last Saturday night at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester, New Hampshire, about 400 faithful GLoP fans gathered to hear Jonah Goldberg, Rob Long, and John Podhoretz riff on that night’s Republican debate, both before and after. Thanks to all who made the journey and to those who listened in live. P.S.for those more visually inclined, there is video of the event here, courtesy of the Granite Grok blog.

It would be improved if the terrible audio around 46-47 mins was cut out thanks

That was Jonah doing the Hillsdale ad.  He said he wasn’t good at it, and he was right.

Thanks for the heads up. This has now been fixed.

The Dan Aykroyd skit was on Season 4, Episode 4 and is available via HULU.

    Not his fault!

In NYC, “wood shampoo” refers to a police officer using his nightstick to give an “attitude adjustment” to a suspect.

Fellas, great podcast. One small criticism, though: when taking a poll of the audience, please ask them to respond by applause, not raised hands. It’s very hard to hear hand-raising on an audio podcast.

Also, Rob, I think you needed to explain “wood shampoo” to your compatriots. Jonah seemed to think it was some sort of porn term. BTW, is that term originally from a Raymond Chandler story? It sounds like it would be.

Nice timing on the intro, Yeti.  I’ll bet Christie wishes he had that music behind him.

JPod was channeling Jim Gaffigan pretty effectively, what with the blustery assertions in deep voice followed by sotto voce replies.  The in-person set-up also allowed all three to riff on each other’s lines much faster than in the normal skype setting, and the results were very rewarding.
