The Holiday Geek-Out GLoP (Formerly Scatological)

The men of GLoP return (finally) for their traditional end of the year Christmas muisic and dance spectacular. We’ve got an overview of European commode technology (really!), Rob remembers Kirstie Alley, and then taking advantage of Rob’s underperforming bandwidth, Jonah and John geek out on Avatar 2: The Way of Water and Andor. You snooze, you lose, Rob.

    1/23/21 GLoP was also “Scatological.”

It suddenly hit me, while the guys were ridiculing Elon Musk and comparing him to sad, neurotic Howard Hughes:   they are, down to their souls, totally creatures of the Establishment.   It’s why they can’t stand Trump:    he is a threat to the Establishment they love.

    DID SOMEONE SAY “PROPELLER BEANIE”??

Check out the local MN news a month or so ago.

Did this guy wear this because he was on the news?

Does he always wear this hat?

Does it have a little tubine in the hat?

The Hopper toilet was standard on US passenger trains too.  Amtrak finally phased them out in the 1980s.  And if you’ve experienced systemic toilet failure on a long-distance Amtrak adventure, you’ve wished they hadn’t.

This set of American novelty lyrics to Dvorak’s Humoresque #7  (G-Flat major) probably goes back to the day after the music was published.  (Mentioned in a 1941 novel, anyway.). I believe I encountered the notice (“Passengers will please refrain …”) on trains in the 60s.  Although that does put me at an age where I’ve seen a lot of things I haven’t.
