Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 40 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
This week on the world famous GLoP podcast we….start over. You’ll hear what we’re talking about when we listen and no, we will never discuss what was said, so don’t ask. Really. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t getting a generous helping of GLoP nourishment — you are. We cover Shatner’s trip to space, some thoughts about the imminent release of Dune, Chappelle, Netflix, and that silly work stoppage, and your usual dose of non-sequitors, show biz anecdotes, and sci-fi put downs.

So, JPod was raging at people who won’t get jabbed, again?
JPod seems to have left off the best part of Dave Chappelle’s bit on “Caitlynn” Jenner, something like “He’s only been a woman for a year and he’s already a better woman than you!”
It’s also possible the donors know exactly what they’re getting, and it’s what they want: they want US to think that they and NRO etc are fighting the left, but they’re really not.
As I was listening to the comments about Baldwin/30 Rock I popped on to Yahoo and the headline about him killing someone with a prop gun was the first thing I saw.
“Evil is very good.”
Well, there’s a phrase you don’t hear ever day.
Apparently Dennis Prager just got COVID on purpose for the natural immunity. Perhaps that set him off.
Release the JPod cut!
Actually, getting the vaccine and catching COVID after it kicks in does seem like a good strategy, from what we know of it. And one of the considerations is that we’re all likely to catch it sometime or other. Catching it when you know you’re healthy, as opposed to waiting when you may not be?
As for Podhoretz, I do listen to him on his Commentary Podcast, and he’s actually obsessed about the vaccine in a way that surprises me. Of the three GLoP’s I know the least about him and the nuances of his political philosophy, so maybe I wouldn’t be surprised if I did.
I’m glad we were spared his rant. I’ve lost patience with vaccine obsessives. For that matter, I have lost patience with COVID obsessives.
What we got for a show was pretty good. I could tell they were overcompensating a little with each other playing nice, nice, so that first 40 minutes must have been a bit of a strain between the three. Strong friendships can keep those kinds of tensions in perspective.
If you share the bad part with me I promise not to tell.
Except it’s starting to look like getting vaccinated erroneously pre-programs your immune system so that you don’t get the proper full immune response to the actual virus, and especially to the variants.
Sounds like the guys need to watch Uncommon Knowledge with Dr. Jay. He said exactly what the problem is regarding people getting the vaccine.
My recollection of what Rush Limbaugh had to say about the failure of his syndicated TV show is different from Rob’s account.
Rush sometimes referred to it as “the cocktail party effect”. His show would bring in more viewers at 3 AM than whatever that local station was putting on at 11 PM.
Nonetheless, the station manager would leave Rush’s show on at 3 AM.
Because the manager was already getting a lot of heat from his friends and peers in broadcasting for running the show at all.
With Rush on at 11 PM, the station would make more money; but it might spoil friendships, and hurt the manager’s career in the long run.
I’m not much of a cable TV watcher and have never heard of the show ‘Real Sex’. Once or twice in my youth I was pleasantly surprised to see bare breasts, such as in a bath scene, in BBC dramas on PBS. Years later in Japan, I learned there are even alternate versions of Rolling Stones music videos with bare breasts. Rock n Roll! Even The Lord of the Rings might be readable if all the forgettable, meaningless names and the silly map were accompanied by occasional bits of naughtiness.
I would occasionally catch part of an episode of HBO’s “Real Sex”while staying at a hotel.
After watching for a few minutes, I decided I preferred “Fake Sex”!
And so passes the last weekday for the second podcast of the month.
Probably not going to do a second one this month. Too many competing and busy schedules (including mine).
