I had to stop listening. I stomached the first 30 minutes, but by then it was too much like the “mainstream media” that is more interested in bashing the President than in working toward actual solutions and answers. The hosts’ insistence on picking apart the exact wording of a President we know is perennially inexact in his wording, while utterly refusing to acknowledge the politicians and opposition media to willfully misinterpret and misconstrue anything the Administration says or does for the sole purpose of continuing the effort to bring down the President is evidence that either the hosts are too insulated in the media bubble, or are willfully ignorant. This episode (at least the first 30 minutes I could bear to listen to) was way beyond fair commentary. All about trashing the President. Nothing about trying to find solutions. Terrible show.
I fast forwarded through that part. It was funny to hear Rob say that everyone wants the President to do well. CNN is rooting for the virus and wanting the economy to tank so Biden can win.
You had to hear opinions you disagree with? Thoughts and prayers.
Picky, picky, picky – why can’t you be nice to our PRESIDENT once in a while, you hippie anarchists.
There are Opinions, and then there’s… other stuff.

I’ve never really watched Big Bang Theory, so the reference is meaningless to me. But opinions on the President’s job performance or his demeanor are completely subjective. Some think he’s the greatest President ever. Others, not so much. And it’s completely legitimate topic to disagree on and listening to others views is the very basis for our democracy. Amazing how many people seem to forget that when their guy is in office.
There is that sometimes illusive thing that we have come to cherish at Ricochet, the “informed opinion”.
How about this:
Individual A: I’m afraid you couldn’t be more wrong.
Individual B: More wrong? Wrong is an absolute state and not subject to gradation.

It has nothing to do with Big Bang Theory. So maybe it has clear meaning now? ;-)
I suppose that depends on how informed you think the person giving the opinion is. We think these guys are very informed. Perhaps you don’t. Or perhaps you only want to hear opinions you agree with. That’s perfectly legit, it’s just not what we do.
You might be projecting just a tad. Not sure where the assumption is coming from about only wanting viewpoints that agree with one’s own. I learn a lot here on this extraordinary site from those who bring valuable insights and knowledge to the discussion. But I would hope that you would acknowledge that the debates surrounding these topics are not “completely subjective”. Objective facts exist, also. And it’s best when they are taken into account.
I think a big part of the problem, one thing I noticed and might be something others noticed too, is that comments such as “That Trump address was the worst political speech/address/whatever, ever” are just meaningless nonsense. To (more or less) quote… I think it was Rob… “I can’t tell you who my source was, but it was my ass.”
There’s really no chance that everyone there is really remembering and thinking over every political address/speech/whatever they’ve heard, and rationally concluding that this was objectively the worst.
So why say it? That’s not even an opinion, really, let alone an informed one.
If you want to make that kind of claim, at least maybe check with presidential-speech-writer Peter Robinson first. That’s still no guarantee of a quality opinion, because Peter’s memory isn’t perfect either, but it’s better than nothing.

They’re clearly forgetting when FDR went on television to calm people after the stock market crash of ’29 and made a hash of it. Of course only the GLoP choice for President seems to remember that speech.
Interesting how this comment turns in on itself. I’m sure the hosts can ignore the original comment or defend themselves if they so chose.
And if I want to hear pulled-from-my-ass level “opinions” there are plenty of other sources. Don Lemon. Rachel Maddow. Many others. I expect better from GLoP.
Jonah seems to be on a diet of MSM media hoax when he argues, “they got graves in Iran right now that are like visible from space from all the victims of this media hoax.”
It’s as if he read the Washington Post headline “Coronavirus burial pits so vast they’re visible from space” and accepted it without doubt or any further consideration. Let’s um, dig a little deeper…
The WaPo story describes “a pair of trenches for victims” which “together” are the length “of a football field.” OKaaay, two 50 yard trenches. Let’s assume they’re wide enough for two meter long coffins. Granted, that’s a hole that can hold scores or maybe hundreds of corpses* (depends on how you pack ‘em), but it’s much too small to be “visible from space” without the use of sophisticated cameras with powerful lenses. The fact that automobiles and even individual trees can be seen in the satellite photos of these two “vast” trenches certainly puts the concept “big enough to be visible from space” in perspective.
But the people planting pandemic panic can’t just say these two trenches are almost as vast as two lanes of an Olympic swimming pool (2 x 2.5 meters x 50 meters = 250 square meters). They want us to believe they are so thumping ginormous they can be seen from space. Imagine the TDS uproar if Trump claimed “My tennis court (260 square meters) at Mar-a-Lago is so vast it can be seen from space.”
*Edit: compare this mass grave with the ones required for the victims of the 1988 executions of Iranian political prisoners, variously estimated from 2,800 to over 30,000.
Especially since Herbert Hoover was President during the crash of 1929
Being seen from space isn’t quite the same any more.
I haven’t finished listening to this episode, but I thought it was hilarious. I was listening to it in the lobby of the hotel in which I’m waiting out the weather to continuing a ferry flight. The few people in the area probably thought I was demented because I was either laughing or grinning most of the time. It made me proud to be a Ricochet subscriber.
And television didn’t really hit consumers until ten years later. But let’s put Biden in office because Trump is icky.
Whereas Biden isn’t icky at all! Oh wait…
That is a healthy way to approach all this – to remember that this podcast is not to be taken too seriously. We are talking about three center-right conservatives, leavened by full immersion in the Coastal/Hollywood/Inside-the-beltway mindset. Enjoy the banter, chuckle at the occasional panic or TDS that surfaces, and be thankful that these intelligent and talented guys offer smart, witty and insightful commentary, if not always… ;-) Thanks, Ricochet!
The only thing that gets me through listening to the podcast and its continuous anti-trumpery is knowing that whatever they are complaining about on the current episode has already been addressed. Easily corrected mistakes made in the midst of action are not mistakes; spending half an hour berating the president for a botched announcement, which was followed by a week of superior and encouraging press conferences, is only tolerable because I can laugh at them for being so short-sighted.
But I love it when they talk about movies and stuff…..
Yes, in fact wasn’t the information corrected within minutes, if not within the hour? Not perfect, but hardly another reason for national panic. Still not sure if the address was written in error, was not checked, or was correct but Trump read it wrong – but the corrections were prompt.

Also, worse speeches than that one from Tump? How about attempting the same speech from President Joe Biden?
