Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
If you’re like Dave Carter, you are hearing a cacophony of experts and their contradictory opinions and you’re wondering who to believe? Should we be wearing masks or not? Does a cloth mask do any good or is this just the latest edition of “woke” theatrics? How fast should businesses reopen? What about churches? Should they reopen and under what circumstances? What sort of lessons have we learned to this point? Dave sits down with one of Ricochet’s favorite physicians, known affectionately as Doc Jay to talk about all this and more.
Then, Dave gets Ricochet Member “Arahant” on the phone for a rollicking and fun conversation between two professed curmudgeons. The result is equal parts laughter, commiseration, and compelling insights into life at Ricochet.
All of the preceding takes place under a new format to the show, featuring spruced up production and a fast-paced presentation that we think you’ll enjoy.
Finally, if you’re listening to Dave’s show, but you’re not a Ricochet member, there is a way you can get a 30 day free trial membership . Tune in to learn more!

The doctor sounds very well meaning, but to expect people to radically change there lifestyles over this is not going to happen. We cant get people to wear masks properly. The number of people who wear masks and have beards is shocking.
@docjay is so bad. He got you twice, didn’t he?
As for Chinese racism, believe it. There was a video recently where a leader from a country in Africa was reading the Chinese ambassador the riot act based on how Africans were being treated in China.
The rest of us pronounce it air-a-hant (rhymes with can’t). Pronouncing it as the man intended it is giving aide and comfort to the, well, to the Arahant.
Doc is just so good, that I wanted to have him on again. So are you, by the way. Thoroughly enjoyed having you on the program. Always a fun time.
Forgive me Dave, for taking so long to finally tune in and comment. This episode was quite enjoyable, and even Arahant wasn’t so bad. Heh. And DocJay’s perspective is always good to hear.
Stay safe over there – and keep us posted on any possibility of a Memphis-meetup. Not as close as Nashville, but a 4-hour drive ain’t bad.
Take care.
You commented about eight hours after Dave and I finished our conversation this morning and about three hours after it was posted. I’d hardly characterize that as “so long.”
I don’t mind mixing up the sounds, although it baffles me why one would change away from the Lileks voice.
I do specifically dislike that “who are you” song. Too many hours in a factory listening to the radio where the only thing I could distinguish over the hum of machinery is that owl hooting over and over and over and over again. I’ll grant that that opinion has very little relevance to anyone else.
Thanks for listening, Jim! Glad you liked it. I’ll keep you posted on how and when plans come together for a Memphis meet up.
I appreciate the feedback! The service I’m using cuts liners and intros, etc., of a quality that I can’t replicate with my limited studio resources. They’ve sent some really cool things, which means I don’t have to spend as much time doing production work. I still have all of James’ liners and IDs, etc., and will keep using them. He is a treasure on so many levels. And I may replace the member interview segment intro as well. I can see how The Who song would get old, so to speak. Thanks again for the feedback, sir.
Terrific podcast, Dave. I’d never heard Doc Jay’s voice before. It has a good sound and gives sound advice. It was a kick hearing from Arahant, too.
Regarding Chinese cultural values, James Delingpole’s Delingpod podcast (also here on Ricochet) recently featured an interview with a British ex-pat (whose youth was worthy of Dickens) who’s lived in China for 35(?) years. Absolutely riveting.
Thanks for that, too. I’m a fan of The Who generally, but not fan enough to properly conjugate “that The Who song”. That Who song? Complicated.
Well thank you, Leslie! Glad you liked the show. I should be able to do more of these now that production doesn’t take forever. I’ll have to check in on the Delingpod show you’re referencing here. Sounds fascinating!
Agree Leslie. If fact, I wish James would have him again. How do Hong Kong and Taiwan fit with his view of Chinese society not being interested in democracy.
Great show as always, Dave. Love DocJay. Sure miss him in these pages. Good to hear Arahant. We have some interesting people on Ricochet. Nary a day goes by that I don’t learn something. Look forward to the next installment with James. I do miss your blues songs. Sounds good, though, otherwise.
Thank you, Blondie! And no worries,…I’m not leaving the blues music behind. There are still plenty blues riffs to come. Glad you liked the way it all came together.
What fun! I love when you interview members, too. Thanks!
It figures that I finally get around to listening to this episode on the day you release the next one. Enjoyed it.
Sadly, I don’t see much measured discussion about the virus like that. Most people seem to be gung-ho one way or the other. DocJay is always a treat.
Now to race to the post office to retract that Thank You letter to Arahant’s wife for murdering him. He escaped yet again, I see.
Always remember, cash up front.
Yes,…that’s one of the main reasons I wanted to get Doc on the show. He is measured, thoughtful, and extremely knowledgeable.
