I have used Sheen’s quote on intolerance here almost as much as I have used Archbishop Chaput’s quote on tolerance. Both very good and spot on.
Blessed Fulton Sheen, pray for us.

Side comment: Although the left has long called for tolerance, it has always been singularly intolerant of those it disagrees with. Tolerance was a Trojan Horse.

Absolutely the case. They are, in fact, Trojan Horses all the way down. Big Donors race them on Sundays.

In postwar America, Catholics were on a roll. We'd made it. Incomes and family sizes were booming. We were proud of Bishop Sheen's amazing outreach, with a top ten network TV show.
But if anything, many of us were puzzled that Sheen on TV didn't push the dogma of the Catholic church specifically, but a more general Catholic view of American Christianity. He joked that if someone wants the specifics, we've got 10,000 dealerships across the country...stop in at a showroom this Sunday!

Catechesis is a delicate thing. We live in the land of ten million theologies and each one needs to be unwound a little differently. Sheen's job was to make the case for going to catechism.
