The Zohran’s extravagant promises of free stuff - so attractive to New Yorkers - have just run face-first into the hard reality of double-entry accounting. Unfortunately, the money needed to pay for all that free stuff has to come from somewhere, and the mayor lacks the authority to unilaterally raise taxes. On that front, Commie Mamdani actually had more power in his former post serving as an assemblyman in the state legislature. Hate to say “told ya” to NYers, but there it is. Unfortunately, to quote the late great Glenn Frey, “It's the lure of easy money, it’s got a very strong appeal.”

How long will it take for Empire State voters to realize the emperor has no clothes? Or will the weak Governor Hochul lobby the legislature to tax the rest of the state to deliver goodies for Mamdani?

A "legal obligation" to pass a balanced budget? If they fail, does the Bolshie do time?

    That would be terrible...

Someone should explain to him that revenue is something that is earned by making something or performing services someone values enough to pay you for. It is not something someone gives you under threat. I’ll suggest further that taxes do not qualify as revenue even if it comes from another jurisdiction.

The best part of this? Not my problem. I'm in Texas.

It might even do some good by showing the price of socialistic policies to those who might be otherwise lured into voting for it.
