Epstein, a lawyer, writes like a lawyer and is a little difficult to understand. But after reading slowly and tediously I get his point. The trade deficits with various countries are absolutely meaningless. The countries that impose tariffs hurt themselves more than they hurt other countries. The decline of U.S. manufacturing is a gigantic myth. Trump's scheme of world-wide tariffs is bound to fail, no matter what.

That’s not what economists familiar with game theory say. The Monte Carlo evidence shows that Tit-For-Tat strategies ( ie reciprocal tariffs) are a dominant strategy.

“The countries that impose tariffs hurt themselves more than they hurt other countries.” This is a version of “learn to code.” Really? Tell that to the hundreds of thousands of manufacturing employees who lost their jobs to Chinese slave labor. (I wouldn’t do this face to face if I were you.)

Monte Carlo evidence pertains to international trade?

The former manufacturing employees in the U.S. now have higher paying jobs that were created since then. You even created a post today that was boasting about how low the unemployment numbers were in the U.S. and how more Americans are employed than ever before, and that the labor participation rate was rising.. This does not square with what you just wrote about losing manufacturing jobs.
