Thank you for posting this; it is a powerful and evocative piece. Heartbreaking, but I’m grateful it’s being published somewhere. I recommend it for promotion to the Main Feed strongly.

Any one connected with Syria had a lot of reasons to worry.
When wikileaks did the Hillary Clinton email dump, one of her emails clearly stated that since she was Secretary of State, she had the ability to help her "Israeli friends" in their requests to have the USA to destabilize Syria.
Beyond that bit of info, way back in the early 1980's some event precipitated an Israeli response against the people of Lebanon such that 20,000 people were killed. Our media for the most part avoided mentioning this.
Anthony Bourdain brought about one of the better examinations into how Israel operates. He went over to Beirut with his film crew of the TV show "No reservations" in order to hit the 4 star restaurants, the tiny cafes, the best and brightest of the night spots. He expected to hang out with normal everyday people of Beirut and enjoy the amenities that the people and their food and entertainment venues would bring. However within 48 hours of being there, some militant group kidnapped about a dozen Israeli soldiers.
Israel immediately set about dropping missiles across the city. The episode was actually televised on the Food Channel in an unedited edition. There was no comfort for any in his entourage - as although it was unlikely the hotel that they were in would be deliberately targeted, a lot of times missiles do go astray. Some of the people he had hired as locals for his staff ended up finding out their communities had been bombarded.
All of this had happened at the height of the tourist season, so many people in Beirut were from Europe visiting relatives or simply intending to enjoy Beirut. Eventually a US navy ship came into the harbor and Bourdain and his crew were able to finally leave. (The episode is still available but has been heavily edited.Bourdain himself was suicided, just a few days after he tweeted that he had some real dirt to dish on Hillary.)
Netanyahu has been stating since the 1980's that it was his most fervent desire to have the USA destabilize Iraq and Iran through wars fought in those countries. The word on the street is that had Trump been killed by the recent assassination attempt, the media was going to release the "truthful" finding that Iran was behind this attack on a former president and his supporters.

Can you provide any of his quotes about this? It sounds preposterous that Netanyahu would ever say this.
