Mayor Adams: DOJ Political Hit?

NYC Mayor Eric Adams is embroiled in a scandal in which a close campaign fundraiser is accused of accepting illegal foreign contributions, among other infractions. By sheer coincidence, after Adams had publicly, repeatedly criticized Biden immigration policy, teams of FBI agents were dispatched to interview/investigate a large number of individuals with ties to the campaign and the suspect corporations.

Two days before Adams was scheduled to travel to DC for a high-profile White House meeting on the issue of illegal immigration, FBI agents ordered Adams’ NYPD security team to stand aside as they sat with him in his vehicle, presented a warrant, and seized his phones and iPad.

Adams canceled his DC trip.

Obviously, the DOJ and the US Attorney for the SDNY had no idea that Adams was scheduled to keep Biden’s immigration problems in the news with the planned DC trip and surely, the immediate of use of a big chunk of FBI manpower was a totally normal and proportionate use of law enforcement resources in otherwise largely crime-free NYC and in light of the fact that all other political campaigns in NY are known to be squeaky clean.

It would be just wrong to suspect or insinuate that the timing, intensity, and depth of this law enforcement action was a beatdown of a troublesome, disloyal elected Democrat, wouldn’t it?

What other reasons would there be?

Eric Adams is a stupid man, too stupid to follow the bouncing ball.  All he had to do was sing along.

    Wow.

Just for fun, imagine that a Republican was president when this happened.

I suspect it might have made the news.  Every morning and every night.  For months.  Understandably.

Reminds me of the Rod Blagojevic prosecution, conviction, and was sentenced to  14 years in the Federal pokey for doing what (D)’s have always done in Chicago …. you can bet thousands of (D) politicians sphincters puckered up at the notion of having the (D) Party State or Federal prosecutors turning their sites on them.

When you cross the wrong (D)’s, even as a (D), there is hell to pay.

This helps explain how the (D) can maintain such strict lock step Party discipline

I remember when Travis County (Texas) District Attorney (and friend of Ann Richards), Ronnie Earle, helpfully took out Attorney General Jim Mattox and former governor Mark White in the 1990 Democrat Gubernatorial primary. They’ve been at this for a long time.

It would be acutely embarrassing to Biden to have to discuss immigration with a blue city mayor who had complained so vociferously about immigration when the administration keeps telling us that everything is just fine at the border. Not something on the agenda for Biden right now, who needed a nap and an ice cream cone to get through the day. Fortunately the DOJ and FBI were johnny on the spot to let him get his rest and not have to answer press questions, possibly from Doucy even….or maybe he was out of meds and forgot to get his refill.

Its an amazing coincidence! That anyone is critical of the Biden suddenly finds themselves in legal troubles…

If you’re going to abuse power to punish your political opponents why wouldn’t you also abuse power to police your “allies” and keep them ‘on side’?

Donald Trump isn’t the only victim of abusive prosecution. Elon Musk, is being sued by the DOJ because SpaceX wont hire undocumented workers… Because SpaceX builds rockets it must protect its technology from being trafficked internationally. Thus it can not hire undocumented workers (not even documented foreigners) ITAR, the International Trafficking of Arms Regulation is the controlling legal authority here…

The smell of politicization of “justice” in the national government is getting stronger, and I find it telling that the management isn’t doing much to counter that observation.

They don’t want to diminish the smell. They need that smell to be strong, they need their abuses to be brazen. If they just go after nobody podcasters, the somebodies will feel immune, and speak up. For these abuses to be effective it should give the somebodies pause before they speak up. Silence isn’t violence, but it can be complicity.

I disagree with your assessment. While organized crime corrupting police officers is a concern, and is absolutely happening at every police agency in the country. I dont think that’s the plan for the FBI. I think they’re styling themselves after the KGB. The KGB called itself the “Sword and Shield of the Communist Party”, I think the FBI is viewing itself as the “Sword and Shield of the Democrat party” … They protect prominent democrats like the Clintons and the Bidens while slashing out at critics and opponents.

What about the democrats who face prosecution? Necessary sacrifices to show that its not about party, its about loyalty. Sen Bob Menendez originally got into trouble back in 2015, when he opposed the original Iran Nuclear deal. Nobody expected him to beat the rap that the Obama Justice department dropped on him.

Sen. Robert Menendez might be a senior Democrat but he’s no friend of the White House.

In fact, he’s emerged as one of the most troublesome obstacles to President Barack Obama’s legacy-building effort to end decades of U.S. estrangement with Cuba and Iran. He’s also poked the administration on its troubled relationship with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with whom he shares a hawkish outlook towards Tehran.

But the senior senator from New Jersey, 61, is now in the news for a different reason, after CNN first reported Friday that the Justice Department is preparing to bring criminal charges against him.

    From a CNN article

    https://www.cnn.com/2015/03/06/politics/menendez-corruptoin-charges-obama-relationship/index.html

Even in the democrat press, the link is clear. The message is clear. Oppose the regime at your peril.

The more I learned about how the KGB thought about itself from the inside, the more I saw the similarities to our own state security services.

I didn’t know much about it back in those days.  I knew there was a KGB, but I hadn’t bothered to think of them other than as standard-issue villains.

KGB is literally the “Committee for State Security”.
