The people want big government and aren’t paying attention to the long term. Barry Goldwater's loss gave us Medicare & Medicaid and more. Every loss means more permanent government.
Four more years of the HHS Mandate: This was known and they still voted to continue it.
Four more years without a working federal budget: This was known and they still voted to continue it.
Four more years closer to the welfare state’s fiscal collapse: See: "Greece, Spain, Venezuela, Japan, Argentina..." and they still voted to continue it.
Four more years of trillion dollar deficit: When will this matter to voters? We had this for 4 years. And when we raise taxes to cover the deficit, Republicans will get the blame.
Four more years of mounting national debt: Obama didn't know what the debt was on national TV, made a joke about it and still they voted for more from him.
Four more years of demagoguery against the wealthy: Obviously people voted for more of this.
Four more years of bureaucratic despotism: People call that a "job program" and believe its good. Only a business owner knows what that means and they are greatly out numbered.
I kept thinking of the parallels with North Korea when I read the series. The Capitol serves as Pyongyang with the various other states in the book standing in as the NK peasant gulags. All of their efforts are confiscated to serve The Capitol elites. Not sure if that was her intention, but watch any documentary on life in the Juche paradise and you’ll see it.
At first I questioned your claim that Planned Parenthood doesn’t do mammograms, so I did some checking. The reporting on this is wildly misleading and it appears to be intentional. I’m finding many stories today that imply that the Komen dollars fund mammograms, but I random search of Planned Parenthood offices shows that they only offer referrals. You see mammograms on the list of services, but if you dig into it you see they just do screenings and referrals. MSNBC's story quotes a Komen supporter claiming their donations go to Planned Parenthood for mammograms but MSNBC does not refute this incorrect claim.
How does tagging funding for screenings do anything but increase funding for the whole operation? One assumes the medical personnel on staff are a sunk cost and sufficiently trained on breast exams. We all know the funds are comingled so how do Komen supporters just ignore that unless they are also Planned Parenthood supporters. Heck my junior high health class provided education on self examination. The religious dedication to Planned Parenthood is a little creepy. We can see a little fascism here (sorry Jonah Goldberg) in the backlash against Komen enforcing their stated policy.
Re: Anyone Interested in a Seattle Area Meetup?
We could make it a bizzaro "Battle in Seattle" and spruce up squatter's hovels while speaking kindly to strangers.
Depending on dates I might be able to attend.
