Oh, I give them full credit. I just don't think they have the guts to do anything about it.

Brian

It would be satisfying.  But it will be a winning strategy IF things go as badly as so many (of us) predicted.

Brian

I would expect the two camps and parties to have very differant physical elements in place and perhaps implimentation of very new ideas about turning voters out.  The only way to know a campaigns real effectiveness in terms of ground game is at the final stretch and on voting day.

The final stretch is underway and, when compared to 2008, there is a better early voter turnout among Repubs.  Ohio is looking more and more like a rigged game for/by Obama.....but Romney is still neck and neck.

Brian

She set Obama up. Perfect attack for Romney tonight if you ask me. "You'll hide behind your Secretary of State?"

Brian

This is fantastic news.  Florida, Ohio, and Virginia all in play, showing Romney pulling ahead, by polls fully conducted post-debate.  Nevada as well.  And the poll last week in Pennsylvania showing Romney in play was a huge deal if it proves accurate.  Give it a week as the dust settles, but these state polls are highly encouraging and should be reflected in the national polls.

Romney will need to seriously manage expectations for the second debate, but before that...maybe Paul Ryan can deliver another knock-out.

Brian

Pessimism is pointless this far into it. Pointless. Give money, give time, and let's put up the biggest fight possible for what we believe in.

Brian

Plus, oil price is up, unemployment high, nothing positive on the economic front for Obama. Romney, now that the convention is over, is able to release his increasing cash advantage over Obama onto the airwaves. Obama has campaign and cash management issues, while Romney's has proven effective.   And no poll shows the incumbent at 50%, which is a key point since he is well known and defined...further indicating Romney is in the drivers' seat as he introduces himself to voters.

It's early, but all signs point to Romney.

The race will increasingly be for women voters, I think.

Brian

Come election day, it will be all about enthusiasm.  They will try hard to whip some up, but no matter what it will be artificial and ineffective.  Poor turnout on the left and solid turnout on the right will be the story on election day.

Brian

"oh right, like I've never had a gun to my head."Great line and delivered even better. Great show Rob.

"Matthew GilleyIf my tax returns looked like Mitt Romney's, I'd walk around with a copy hanging from my neck.  I'd wallpaper my living room with them.  I'm pretty confident they'll show him to be a successful, generous man.  For all his faults, why is he so timid about putting his best foot forward?"Bingo! I think it's pretty clear Romney wants this issue center stage. He's been running for president or known he was going to for many years. If he had released a decades worth of tax returns in January it would have stirred a yawn. Let the left get animated and define this as an enormous issue and then release evidence of grand generosity and wealth-making.

That's the most disturbing aspect of the case: they covered this up out of greed. Who is worse, Sandusky or those who enabled him to continue abusing boys? At least you can assign an obvious sickness to Sandusky, but only greed and a lack of humanity to the enablers. I suspect the NCAA will have to reconsider actions taken when senior faculty are found guilty.

Samuel, very good point. China and India are proof of a nuclear power future. And that there will always be some society hungry enough to accept the realities of science and economy. Robert E Lee is correct, if the USA can get ahead of the curve we can gain a tremendous edge, trailer sized buried reactors are the future!

Brian

Apparently you haven't heard much of Bob Dylan's guitar work. Not just songwriting skills there. You don't have to appreciate his style but to say his son can play guitar as well as he could thirty years ago?

Brian

Most people that haven't on their own, ascribe to Dylan what so many others interpret his poetry as. If you listen to any of his stuff, it's easy to ascribe so much to the vessels he forms. Good poetry that is like holding a mirror up to the listener. Others maybe can't enjoy the voice while others still have no desire to give much thought to lyrics.Dylan enjoyed today I'm sure. He always wanted fame, fortune, and adoration....or at least relevance. But he never did any of it for happiness. Nashville Skyline might be fun, but Blood on the Tracks earned that medal today. So much on that album. "In a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be fighting to be warm, come in she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm"And later..."she walked up to me so gracefully, took my crown of thorns. Come in she said I'll give ya shelter from the storm."

Fantastic interview!  Much that I found informative, but.....and I'm not sure I could explain why...I found that an 89 year old man wearing a calculator watch said volumes about him.

Maybe Tommy should have honored his own code and , rather than lose his cool, "taken his beating like a man."

...and another thing, Tommy's use of the word "boy" would have been, and still is, considered a racial slur where I grew up.  Maybe we should run down that rabbit hole since it's so appropriate to make assumptions about motives and character.
