I'll give you one guess...

Charles Allen

To start things off, I want to make sure that we give credit for "Operation Counterweight" to Prof. William Jacobson and his blog Legal Insurrection.  His disappointment with the GOP field led him to coin (to the best of my knowledge) the term way back in June...

King Prawn:  Yes herding 585 Congresscritters is an impossible task, but if we work to place more conservatives within that number, perhaps the herd will tend to stampede less to the Left side of the ranch...

Freeven: "This is just so sad. Obama is about the most vulnerable Democrat president I can imagine, and here we are having to look to Congress for inspiration..."  I look at it this way.  Yes perhaps a Mitt Romney presidency is not the conservative dream, but we can not let the perfect be the enemy of the good.  Romney would be the good-enough to Obama's horrible, and a more conservative Congress would help to keep *him* on the Right side of the ranch...

KP, I get all of that, but why bother even displaying the official results if your headlines don't rely on them, or worse, contradict them?  Wait until they hit 100% reporting...

Of course that will not happen, but I think it looks stupid.  Chalk it up to pet peeve...

Well, if you have lost your faith in wine, you can always come over to beer...

10 Surprising Health Benefits of Beer

Reduced Cancer Risk

A Portuguese study found that marinating steak in beer eliminates almost 70 percent of the carcinogens, called heterocyclic amines (HCAs) produced when the meat is pan-fried. Researchers theorize that beer’s sugars help block HCAs from forming.
Scientists also have found that beer and wine contain about the same levels of antioxidants, but the antioxidants are different because the flavonoids found in hops and grapes are different.”

Of course you could reduce that down to: "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

Any other Ricochet homebrewers out there?

Peter Robinson: "Stop this.  Stop this now.  We want you here at Ricochet, not hauled off to the campaign trail." Peter, are you valuing Ricochet ahead of the country? If Troy can help to defeat Obama, I can approve of a leave-of-absence....

Apparently Rob is getting to her....

Ian Hanchett: For all of his efforts, Romney’s nomination is still opposed by 75% of his own party...

I think that is overstating the case a little bit.  Romney is not opposed by 75%, he is not preferred by 75%.  One could argue that this is splitting hairs, but I think that the difference is significant.  I may not prefer Romney (whereforeartthou Ryan/Rubio '12??), but that doesn't mean I oppose him.  I would prefer none of these candidates, but I will eventually be pulling the lever for one of them over Obama.

That said, I oppose Ron Paul....

One of the things that I am still waiting for are any toolbar options when I post something from my iPad (in either the full site or the mobile site)...

All I can do is type straight text...no links, quotes, or pics...

I have an addition to my earlier submission...  Since it is on AMC right now, I also want to add 'Spy Game'.  A pretty good spy tale with Robert Redford and Brad Pitt.  Perhaps it does not qualify as obscure, but it certainly hasn't gotten much acclaim that I know of.

Hmmm... Yet another movie about a CIA field agent bucking the system.  Perhaps my film choices need expanding...

I would concur on the earlier posted 'Glory', 'Fifth Element', 'Time Bandits', and 'Better Off Dead'.  One that I have always liked, but no one else has ever heard of in the light-heart 'spy' comedy 'Hopscotch', starring Walter Matthau, Glenda Jackson, Ned Beatty, and a young Sam Waterston.  "A CIA agent tired of his incompetent colleagues retires and dares them to stop him from publishing an embarrassing book of memoirs."

I am also partial to Clint Eastwood in 'Heartbreak Ridge'

I do like it. But please make me a promise....never program the main website to automatically redirect me to the mobile site simply because I am using a mobile OS. I hate when websites don't let me make the choice on my own.

I found it interesting that Caddell implied that all that was needed was a well-heeled donor to underpin the "Write-In Hillary" campaign.  The first think that popped into my head was "Rush Limbaugh".

Call it Operation Chaos II.... Rush could use a few of his gazillions to fund an anonymous PAC and print up yard signs and build an online effort.  Have nothing that ties it to him...true astroturf.  It might work better than an overt campaign during his show....

Here is an example of what Chimay described in the first comment:

marker

Back in July when I was driving up to Cape Cod, on Rt 195 in Mass I noticed that there were milage markers every 1/10th of a mile.  I am quite sure that this is just another example of stimulus (or even pre-stimulus) patronage....a fat state contract for someone with connections, to produce cheap product to fill a nonexistent need.

And the results from some precincts are starting to trickle in...

Occupy flash mob fails to impress Walmart workers

The folks from Occupy Orange County might need to work on their delivery if they want to get their message across.

A two minute “flash mob” by members of Occupy’s Santa Ana contingent left some Walmart employees feeling disrespected and confused.

At 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, about 20 protesters gathered near the cash registers at the Walmart at Harbor Boulevard and McFadden Avenue in Santa Ana.

The group began chanting a message intended to convey solidarity with Walmart employees and urging them to skip work on the day after Thanksgiving.

The group then marched out of the store chanting “We are the 99 percent.” At least one shopper joined the group and marched out with them, pumping her fist in the air.

Afterward, as the protesters drove away, a handful Walmart employees gathered outside the store’s entrance. One woman called the protest “stupid.” Another said it was “disrespectful.”

So far so good!

Actually, she should take the Prof up on his offer, go to the OWS location, and exercise her 1st Amendment rights by espousing Tea Party talking points (if she is so inclined).

Or perhaps holding a sign like this...

teaparty

I wonder if she would get the extra credit then?
