Hey New Members jump on in to an AudioMeetup, Its great fun.
That lower pay for female staffers story really chaps my hide. Senate Democrats don’t pay their female staffers less than their male staffers. We do! Or, at least our great-great-grandkids will when they finally get around to paying off the national debt next century. Poor yet-to-be-born sucka’s.
Can you imagine the damage to this republic done by Babs Boxer’s staffers? Lilly Ledbetter schmedbetter. I have a better way to equalize congressional staff pay. Send ’em all home unemployed!! Really. How much worse off can we be with congressmen who have to read and write their own legislation? Maybe if government seizes up, the economy can get moving again.
Aside: The new members /crickets… are either shy, or a figment of Rob’s fevered imagination. We right-wingers require evidence, don’cha’know?
Welcome, New Members. Perhaps you can help long-time member EJ Hill figure out what to do about the book selection his son’s high school teacher has proposed for his AP Government class.
Dear New Members,
The cat joke shtick is entirely my own original invention. Do not question this.
Thank you,
Casey
We miss you, already, shy new folks.
However, a Welcome post is hardly inspiring for jumping in. If this were a cruise and you had just joined the ship, I would use this event to distract the riff-raff, while I found a good seat in a more controversial spot.
I’ve been a member for about a year and have been listening to the earlier shows while waiting for the latest one to appear. I’m a professional archivist and hope that the Blue Yeti will also include an archive of the other Ricochet.com podcasts so all of them may be heard. And, again, I’d like one of your podcasts to be focused on the origin of Ricochet and how the basic cast has changed over time.
I’d like to know how many members there are.
Hi. I’m new. My name is Barack Obama. Don’t hate me for redistributing your wealth.
I’m no professional, but all of the podcasts are archived on individual show pages. You can access those pages by clicking on the title of the show on the podcast area of the right sidebar on the front page.
Not really, but I did just finally join last month. I’m a management consultant specializing in corporate governance and process management. I am also a writer of fiction and poetry. It’s rumored that I also have been paid as a musician in the past. Do I need to start this again?
Hi, I’m Arahant, and I’m a political junkie.

I may have to check the dates on this. ·8 hours ago
So you’re a regular Winston Smith, eh?
We know how to deal with people like you.
How new are we talkin’?
I want to know if I’m the one bringing cookies, or the one opening the door. ^.^
Been here a month or two. Haven’t really contributed much, but the “people I’m following” thing is just TOO handy, even if I can’t get any of the podcast software that doesn’t take over my computer to work on the secured ones.
I shall, but I suspect it’s more my built in gremlin aura than anything. Nobody else I know has their computer screwed up by iTunes.
I’d like to do a shout-out about support, though– the one other time I contacted them, I got a response back almost instantly, and it WASN’T a form response! I’d assumed it would be, but it was an actual answer and was correct. ·9 hours ago
I always used the direct mp.3 link and listened in my preferred player (Winamp). Now that I’ve switched to Linux I just use Amarok and subscribed.
I am theOfficial Voice of Doom and Gloomhere on Ricochet. Abandon all hope ye who hit the ENTER key.

Oh, don’t worry about Pseudo. He’s really a pussycat.
And I’m really a gargoyle. Don’t let the adorable mud-snouted golden retriever fool you.
BTW – How do you really feel about the Theory of Evolution?
Foxfier, write us at support@ricochet.com and we’ll get you set up with the premium podcasts. You shouldn’t be having that much trouble with them.
Name’s Jesse. Bookkeeper in the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy Cinema, Baking and also sifting thru Ricochet. Currently gearing up to play Diablo III for 4 days straight and I’m always curious to know if anyone can name the character to my right. I prefer off the top. No googling. But really there’s no rules.
I joined a month ago. I’m a Mormon-raised Catholic convert, football fan, Cornell-trained philosopher, mother of two. I used to be an active blogger (I love arguing online), but when my eldest son was born, I resolved to devote all my writing time to my dissertation until I finished the degree. That ended up being a heinously long and aggravating project. But now it’s done I figured it would be fun to branch out a little.
I’ve had lots of practice being a skunk at liberal picnics. It’s fun talking to conservatives. Like every day is Saturday here.
It is terrifying to post a comment in case one of the cats gets a hissy fit. And then there is Pseudo…
Thank you for the kind welcome, Rob. that is why Ricochet is exceptional, the human connection.
I live in Toronto, Canada, with my sons (who spoil me rotten) and my husband (who is a “challenge” and does not give a fig about politics – shoot them all.) I work in private equity, have 3 biz books published. Have a racy, violent novel unpublished.
My book club and mums at the schools are champagne Liberals supreme – the Canadian strain is virulent, even compared to California. When I first heard the number 1 podcast, I could not believe there was a group of people with attitudes like mine, except I did not have political context at that time. Since then, have been learning a ton from all the contributors, Encounter Books – but only on the Main Feed. I have been missing so much back in the member feed!
I don’t speak about my past life in Africa as Dennis Praeger said in the podcast this week, America is rare in a world of evil.
According to GK Chesterton, religion and politics are the only things worth commenting on. I found that Ricochet was commenting on those two things, with a bit of fluff stuff thrown in for good measure, and decided to join about two or three months ago.
I am an atheist who became an evangelical Pentecostal who swam the Tiber (moving on 40 years ago). I had the privilege of being a United States Marine in the VietNam era, volunteering and serving in that theater. I am a husband and father. We home schooled the last two (really it was my wife who did that, but with my full support).
I do sales and my son is a musician / song writer (donny todd / you tube).
I became a conservative (bucking the trend in my DFL family), then pro-life, then a Republican (now independent), then a Catholic, then a husband and father, then a Ricochet reader and contributor, in that order.
How about you?
Hello all, I am a Grad Student in Computer Engineering here in Indianapolis, IN. I’ve been a conservative for as long as I can remember (one of those no-heart people according to Churchill). I grew up listening to Rush, but I didn’t really get into politics until I got out of high school. I’m a voracious reader of political news. I’ve been reading National Review for several years now, and I’m trying to get into the foundational works of conservatism. I know some of the editors here also are close with National Review, and I would love to see a Conservatism 101 reading list. I’ve read several of Thomas Sowell’s works and both of Jonah Goldberg’s novels, and recently read Hayek’s road to serfdom. I find the rise of the New Media fascinating. Getting the necessary information to be truly informed has never been easier.
I am really looking forward to some good conversation. Its rare to find others who talk politics, civilly. Its rarer still to find conservatives who talk politics (most just live there lives).
Hi……uhh…my name is Mike and I’ve been a Ricochet member now for 483 days and things have been going really well. I’m working the program and a lot of things have cleared up for me……..oops, got my notes confused. Sorry.

Hey Brando — Cool idea about the Conservative 101 reading list. I’ll try to put up a post on it soon.
Before I let Rob’s link to a comic book controversy goad me on…
I did post a list that contained what I think are very central writings for conservative thought here http://ricochet.com/member-feed/A-Political-Ideology-Reading-List
Now…as for the guess regarding Alan Scott…I wonder what his daughter Jade and his son Obsidian think about the possibility.

even if I can’t get any of the podcast software that doesn’t take over my computer to work on the secured ones.
Have you tried iTunes? Even if you don’t own any Apple iPod/iPad/iPhone devices, you can use it to listen on your computer, or you can go to the folder where it saves your iTunes library and manually copy the podcast MP3 files to non-Apple devices.
And then there is Pseudo…
I will be played by Norman Bates in the screen version.
