Contributor Post Created with Sketch. First They Came for My Bacon

bacon-flagI feel like I’m being trolled. This announcement has all the ingredients to make me furious: it’s a “health” message in the New York Times, from a UN-ish Non-Governmental Busybody, aimed at governments around the world who interest themselves with their citizens’ eating habits.

In other words, it’s the perfect storm of nonsense. Plus, they’re trying to take away our bacon.

Heard about this today, searched on Bing about it, saw enough to send me here. What can the Ricochetti tell me about this? Is it as scary as I think it is? Twenty five cities have been chosen throughout the country for a program to retrain city police to work with the UN on combating […]

Am I missing something in this Doctors Without Borders tragedy, which is now turning into a comedy? Aren’t surgeons educated enough to know that friendly fire, including mistaken targeting, is an unfortunate aspect of every war? I suppose it should be expected that highly educated professionals like physicians, so long indoctrinated in hippie mislogic at […]

Promoted from the Ricochet Member Feed by Editors Created with Sketch. A Rotting Sofa That Seats 193

Songquan Deng / Shutterstock.comYears ago, I asked my father why a ratty old sofa was still in the house. He replied simply: “It’s there because it’s there.” The words had a strange finality about them. Almost metaphysical in their profundity. What we were talking about was a sofa purchased years ago, used and abused by the family, and then unceremonious shunted into an obscure room when the newer model arrived. As I recall. on delivery day there had been talk of carting away the ratty old sofa. The haulers had offered to take it, for a price. My father balked and so it has remained. A dusty old sofa living out its days, slowly crumbling into the parquet.

The philosophy of furnishing a suburban home is important. It reveals something about the human psyche. When we spend a lot of time and effort bringing something into our lives, we become reluctant to dispense with it. When that particular something is a big and bulky item, requiring great effort to remove, lethargy places its death grip upon it. Think of how many things in your life where you can say that “It’s there because it’s there.”

On Monday, Vladimir Putin met briefly with Barack Obama at the United Nations because he was hungry and wanted to eat the president’s lunch, drink his milk shake, and then gobble up other nations for dessert. More

When someone pointed me to this document, I figured it had to be a hoax. It was mentioned in an unconvincing conspiracy theory video about JADE HELM 15 that I endured out of respect for the person who sent it to me. But it turns out that the document is listed among the US Senate’s […]

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Obama and the U.N. Won’t Intimidate Israel

Netanyahu obama israelIsrael’s enemies have always made the mistake of underestimating the Jewish nation.

One of those enemies is Barack Obama. According to a recent Jackson Diehl column in the Washington Post, the Administration is contemplating bringing the Israeli-Palestinian question to the United Nations in the form of a U.S.-backed Security Council resolution, stipulating that Israel hand over the West Bank as well as Gaza to a new Palestinian state, with Jerusalem divided between the two.

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Greenpeace Damages Ancient Nazca Lines; Peru to Prosecute

The United Nations is holding climate talks in Lima, Peru, featuring delegates from 190 countries. To get their attention, the anti-science extremists of Greenpeace illegally entered a prohibited area adjacent to one of the most famous Nazca Lines.

The activists trampled across the fragile, 1,500-year-old site to install large cloth letters reading: “Time for Change; The Future is Renewable.” To put it mildly, Peruvian officials are not amused.

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. I Believe We Have a Duty to Condemn Anti-Semitism and Unprovoked Acts of Aggression Against Israel

Throughout my lifetime, everyone I know has decried anti-semitism and denounced the genocidal horror of the Holocaust, many virtually implying it could never happen today. Surely we are more enlightened now. “Never again.”

We tend to look upon the German population at that time with disdain for standing silent and/or acquiescing in the slaughter of innocent Jews, as if to suggest such passivity or tolerance for unspeakable evil could never happen among civilized peoples.

The international community has a history of kowtowing to dictators, which is what makes the UN such a worthless batch of hens. In other news, the United States Supreme Court has just issued its first official Strongly Worded Memo. Stop that, President Obama, or we shall be forced to issue another. More

According to Investors Business Daily, Obama wants to be the UN General Secretary after he departs the White House. Being president of the USA is apparently small potatoes for him. It is not his intellect that is huge, but rather his ambition. Whatever the future holds for the United States, it will be interesting to […]
