Tag: Three Martini Lunch

It’s all good martinis today! Jim and Greg welcome the Senate parliamentarian making life much tougher for Senate Democrats and the Biden agenda. They also cheer the mysterious sinking of one of Iran’s largest naval ships. And they are glad to see COVID number continue to drop weeks after the CDC ended mask mandates for vaccinated people.

Jim and Greg separate fact from fiction as Texas Democrats try to kill election integrity legislation. They’re also glad to see the media admit they were wrong to dismiss the Wuhan lab leak theory. And they roll their eyes as the WHO names COVID variants after Greek letters so their names aren’t “stigmatizing” to the places they were first found.

Join Jim and Greg as they dissect the Democrats’ push for a commission to investigate the Capitol riot on January 6 and point out that the 9/11 commission was not the success that Democrats are now pretending it was. They also groan at another report showing the biggest jump in inflation since 1992. And they get a kick out of a new book on the 2020 campaign pointing out the very particular conditions that Bernie Sanders insisted upon while on the road.

Jim and Greg cheer Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson for calling out the massive amount of deficit spending since the pandemic, how we don’t need the trillions more being pushed in Biden’s agenda, and how runaway inflation is a real danger.  He’s right, but will people listen after Republicans spent big when they had control?  They also react to a new report showing more than 33,000 people came to our southern border last month who were not from Central American countries.  And they shake their heads as NIH officials admit to Congress that the Biden administration never consulted with them before shutting down a State Department probe into the origins of the COVID pandemic.

Join Jim and Greg as they examine the political and media left now treating the Wuhan lab leak theory seriously after a year of calling such talk a baseless conspiracy, and even the Biden administration is joining the chorus. They also sigh as the Taliban threatens it’s neighbors not to host any military bases for U.S. forces following our withdrawal from Afghanistan this year. And they they’re stunned that California voters not only oppose recalling Gov. Gavin Newsom but strongly support his handling of the pandemic.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the news that Senate Democrats are running out of time – and don’t have the votes – to pass major priorities on the left. They also groan at actor John Cena’s nauseating apology to China, for simply referring to Taiwan as a country during an interview promoting his new movie. And they shake their heads as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene likens a grocery store chain identifying employees who have been vaccinated to the Nazis forcing Jews to wear yellow stars.

Greg is back but the good news is scarce! Jim and Greg shake their heads as more figures on the left condemn punishment for shoplifters, describing it as “criminalizing poverty.” They also condemn Belarus for concocting a bomb threat to force a civilian airliner to land so they it could arrest a passenger who had written negatively about its government. And they sigh as New York voters seem prepared to re-elect Andrew Cuomo and a majority of Democrats seem perfectly happy to give him another four years.

Jim Geraghty is Joined by Radio America’s Rich McFadden for today’s martinis. The Good: As consensus among public health authorities has declined, PolitiFact issues a correction to their “PANTS ON FIRE” rating regarding the claim that the “the coronavirus was derived from a lab.”

The Bad: Some straight-up Jew-targeting violence on the streets of LA and NYC. As Noam Blum observes, once you’re attacking people and throwing firecrackers at people, you’re not really a “protester” anymore.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome the CDC finally telling vaccinated people they can stop with all the restrictions – a decision millions of Americans had already made. They also hammer President Biden for tweeting out people have to get vaccinated or stay masked and react to the “trust the science” crowd suddenly very mad at the scientists. And they discuss the implications of cyberterrorists attacking the Colonial Pipeline and Colonial agreeing to pay the $5 million ransom to restart operations.

Jim and Greg welcome Sen. Joe Manchin’s announcement that he opposes the Democrats’ current attempt to unilaterally overhaul elections nationwide. They also cheer National Review’s Charlie Cooke for his excellent piece showing how the allegations that Florida was covering up the real COVID data are not only false but were simply the concoction of just one disingenuous staffer. And they sigh as dozens of Never Trumpers launch the latest fundraising operation based on the premise of being disappointed with the Republican Party.

Join Jim and Greg as they dissect three lousy reports that highlight deeply flawed Biden administration policies, from huge numbers of people coming to the border, to a record number of available jobs that aren’t being filled, to very disturbing inflation numbers. And each of these of these problems was easily foreseeable.

Jim and Greg discuss Glenn Youngkin winning the GOP nomination for governor in Virginia and whether the GOP can still win there. They also react to gas stations along the east coast running out of fuel due to the Colonial Pipeline shutdown and the weak response from the White House. And they throw up their hands as the New York Times points out what many knew intuitively – that outdoor transmission of COVID is extremely unlikely. So was the CDC very wrong or hiding the truth?

Join Jim and Greg as they cheer Texas lawmakers or advancing legislation on several key conservative priorities. They also discuss the cyber attack that shut down a key fuel pipeline to the eastern U.S. They break down the latest scandal engulfing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. And they remember the wit and conservative wisdom of the late Pete du Pont.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome two more states making progress on election integrity. They also cringe at the April jobs report coming in way below expectations. And they react to Democrats and activists using the absurd, supposedly inclusive term of “birthing people” instead of mothers.

Join Jim and Greg as they get a kick out of President Biden celebrating a very meager goal in getting kids back in the classroom.  They also fume as Biden sides with the WHO in wanting to “pause” the patents for the companies that developed the vaccines in order to boost production. And they react to Democrats debating whether to remove Iowa and New Hampshire as the first caucus and primary states because they’re too white.

Join Jim and Greg as they serve up three crazy martinis! First, they shake their heads as Charlie Crist runs for governor in Florida for the third time, the second time as a Democrat. They also unload on the CDC’s absurd mask and distancing guidelines for outdoor summer camps for kids. And they react to Facebook’s convoluted decision to keep Donald Trump off its platform.

Join Jim and Greg as they enjoy watching the Dems’ case for killing the filibuster wither away. They also discuss the House GOP fight over Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney and the impact it’s having on the party. And they shake their heads as Brookline, Massachusetts, insists on requiring masks outside despite he CDC easing those restrictions.

Join Jim and Greg as they celebrate two Republicans reaching the runoff for an open congressional seat in Texas and parents fighting back against the “anti-racism” push in school board races. They also applaud Sen. Joe Manchin for opposing the lefty push for D.C. statehood. And they discuss the Biden administration’s efforts to ban menthol cigarettes in an effort to protect minority communities and the fierce opposition from the ACLU and others who argue it will only create more criminals.

Join Jim and Greg as they welcome 6.4 percent economic growth in the first quarter of 2021. They also hope President Biden will keep his word that schools should be fully open in the fall. But they have no idea why Biden insists on social distancing and wearing masks around other vaccinated people. Oh, and there may be a bit of NFL Draft talk in there too.

Join Jim and Greg as they dissect President Biden’s attempt to put a fresh coat of paint on the same old agenda Democrats have been pushing for decades, including his push for massive tax hikes and insistence that his gun control agenda is compliant with the second amendment. They also cheer Tim Scott for a terrific GOP response, in which he blew up several false narratives from Democrats and pushed for critical items like school choice. And they hammer media outlets of both political persuasions for publishing stories that didn’t have all the facts right and for catering to favored politicians.
