Sabo Writes

My friend Sabo is full of stunning surprises. When he’s not jabbing at leftists with hilarious political street art, he writes beautifully. This piece cannot be reprinted here, because it contains Forbidden Language … and it could be just about the best thing you read all day. I wish everyone had such passion for the truth.

Famed LA street artist Sabo has produced 3 video essays to date, and they’re actually pretty informative, and funny. This particular one reminds me so much of what Andrew Breitbart did so well, it caused a little twinge in my heart. This takes place at a rally in Venice, where Sabo comes under the gimlet […]

Snowflake Zuck Bans Sabo

First of all, wealthy, ridiculous men who travel covertly through the land surrounded by a phalanx of guards and secretaries with the purpose of getting to know the little people have no business ruling the lives of others through a political career. So it is a particular joy to see the founder of Facebook slumming it through cow pies as he attempts to navigate the unfamiliar territory of America’s heartland. The latest mess is the permanent Facebook ban of LA street artist and free speech provocateur, Sabo.

Sabo is the genius behind the Ted Cruz with Tattoos poster, as well as some of he most effective and important street art in support of Republicanism to date. His artwork attacking the left is joyfully outrageous, and often includes politically incorrect language. Some are hilariously obscene.

In Defense of Dangerous Art

For almost two years, I have submitted occasional opinion pieces to Ricochet. However, for over eight years, under what is obviously a pseudonym, I have blogged a fair amount of political satire. It is not satire that one would describe as light-hearted and jocular. Rather, it is satire that is Juvenalian in mood: a more apt description would be “spitting.”

Before I would post them, quite a few of my satires caused me substantial anxiety: would this be the piece that finally prompts some sort of retaliation? As ridiculous as that anxiety might sound to some, for me it was very real. However, despite that anxiety, I reasoned that “God hates a coward” and posted each one. As far as I know, no retaliation ever came. However, that is probably not because the Democrats are not shockingly petty, vindictive, and intolerant, but rather it is probably because my satires are either too obtuse or too stylistically out of the mainstream to garner anything more than a handful of readers.

In contrast, representing the opposite of obtuse, consider Kathy Griffin’s latest outrageous piece of performance art which co-starred a decapitated in effigy President Trump. And representing the opposite of “stylistically out of the mainstream,” consider her non-apology press conference – a further piece of performance art – that is now posted on YouTube and that I satirically refer to as “Innocence of Kathy Griffin.” And while I’m sure that the content of her presser is now well tread territory, there are two specific comments, one from each of Ms. Griffin’s attorneys, that I believe still merit further attention.

It’s not everyday you visit an artist sitting on a Tyrannosaurus Rex sized poop. We see political art in different forms; Michael Ramirez‘s devastating cartoons, Roman Genn‘s insightful National Review cover art, and there’s what’s been called ‘street’ or ‘guerilla’ art by Sabo. Good political artists can take controversial or divisive issues and cause people of all ideological […]

Finally, An In-Your-Face Conservative Art Show

6700706_origProvocative Art 2016 will premiere this Friday at the Lotus Gallery, 511 E. Roosevelt, in Phoenix. Local Ricochet members are invited to attend the free reception, and meet some pretty awesome artists, including Roman Genn and Sabo, who will be talking about their work. Also on hand will be original pieces by the two-time Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, Michael P. Ramirez.

Ricochet’s very own Editor, Jon Gabriel has promised to make an appearance as well. Below are some examples of their artwork:

When the Left dominates music, theater and visual art, its naked attempt to strip away culture can only be answered with events like this one at Lotus Contemporary Art Gallery, 511 Roosevelt, Phoenix, April 22-23:   A conservative band of artists will host a show of “provocative” art, most of it blatantly political.  Marc Stolfi’s […]

Street Art, Pop Culture, and the Rise of Ted Cruz

Sabo-Ted-Cruz

Conservatives like to talk big about taking back the culture, but generally they suck at selling freedom. Having ruled pop culture for years, liberals tell their story by infusing everything from movies to visual art and music with their propaganda. Then, this happened:

Created in 2012 by the Republican street artist, Sabo, the “Ted Cruz with Tattoos” poster became culturally iconic for its frank and sexy message, and the fact that the liberal media tripped all over itself to promote it before they figured out that conservatives actually loved the image.

For Ted Cruz fans: This piece is by my client, famed LA street artist Sabo, who has given permission for anyone to use the image through Thursday.  Sharing the picture on social media with the hashtag #RebelCruz is a great way to support the campaign.  Many people who are hosting debate parties are printing up […]

Sabo is a counter culture artist who happens to support Ted Cruz for President.  He’s a Republican and has produced the best and most controversial art you’ve ever seen from this side of the fence.  Lawyers connected to Republican campaigns would never let their candidates directly associate with people like Sabo, who typically uses copyrighted, […]

It’s happened to me more than once, but it’s been awhile. Having had the honor of meeting Sabo makes this more special – regardless, this is what is known in Chez Yenny as a classic. It’s not safe for work, probably not compliant with our code of conduct, but … oh, so worth it. Sabo […]

He will not follow the narrative they have written for conservatives. He practices free speech with a vengeance, lacing his message with profanity and politically incorrect terms. He speaks frankly and fearlessly about many things, including the issues of race, Islam, and abortion. He’s an outsider & cool; something conservatives are not supposed to be. […]
