The New York City Meetup (and with Pictures to Prove It!)

That’s right! It happened, it was lots of fun and we wish you could’ve been there.

Ricochet members and the good people of America’s Future got together on the Hudson River to enjoy free drinks, free food, absorbing conversation, many laughs and the excitement of making new friends. We owe a big thanks to our very own Alex Rosenwald and Rob Long, along with America’s Future’s Larry Gillheeney for organizing the event and providing the former two; and we owe a thanks for all who attended for taking care of the rest.

I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say everyone had a good time. The persistent rain interfered with our plans to enjoy an outdoor gathering on the water, and hampered the “crawl” portion of the event a bit, but freedom-lovers know how to improvise!

The bar crawl is picking up steam. Not only is Rob Long gonna be there, but James Lileks is in too! But we want more VIPs. We want you! If you haven’t heard already, Ricochet is teaming up with America’s Future on Saturday, May 14th to celebrate freedom (and free drinks). All members are invited! […]

Salt Lake City Meetup and Associated Adventures

A handful of us went to SpikeCon, a large science fiction convention in Layton, UT, and had a Ricochet Meetup after the convention. But there was a lot more to the trip than that. Since @katiekoppelman lives near us, she rode along with my wife (Sarah) and me. We caught up with others along the way. The first day was just straight driving from Fargo, ND, to Sheridan, WY. When we went to supper, we saw that Sheridan has a lot of western- and wildlife-themed sculptures along the downtown sidewalks. Since it was raining a little after we got out of the restaurant, we decided to take some time to tour the sculpture scene the next morning before hitting the road.

Next National Review post-election (Buckley Legacy) cruise will be Dec 1-8, 3 weeks later than normal.  It is sailing out of Ft Lauderdale on the Oosterdam (same ship used in San Diego 2006 cruise).  Those in the area need to start thinking of a meetup Nov 30.  The link below will work but the site […]

Well, it’s November! That means 2 things: The Dodgers aren’t World Series champions and it’s time to meet up with your fellow Ricochet mountaineers! Further to this, and this, we are closing in on 11/11. As mentioned, we are meeting at Manker Flats at 7:30 in the am. There is street parking up and down Mt. […]

Further to the OP, The Mountains Are Calling, Ricochetti Must Go we will be meeting on Saturday, November 11, 7:30 am at the Mt. Baldy Trailhead (Manker Flats). I will do another post in the next couple weeks with specific logistics.  Here are my suggestions to anyone considering joining us…  DO IT! But get prepared. […]

Apologies to John Muir for mangling his celebrated quote. Talk politics, culture, and news with some fellow Ricochet members while climbing a mountain! Ok… not technically ‘climbing’, it’s a trail loop, no ropes or skills required other than hiking, but we will get to elevation (10,060′). We are starting to plan a Ricochet Meetup for […]

Uncommon Knowledge at the Reagan Library

Sunday afternoon 500-600 people gathered at the Ronald Reagan Library for a live edition of Uncommon Knowledge. A large contingent of Ricoteers was in the audience, and if you didn’t make it, we missed you! Our beloved Peter Robinson was interviewed by Ricochet contributor and all-around lovely guy, Pat Sajak, who is also known for playing hangman on TV.

The Uncommon Knowledge episode was wonderful! Peter told us quite a few anecdotes about the evolution of the “Tear Down This Wall” speech, a few of which made me tear up. I know some of you watched it via livestream, and the Blue Yeti promises to have it properly posted soon. Patience, please, as he is a VERY busy Yeti for the next few weeks.

Last minute suggestion: Please come earlier than I last announced — make it at 12:30 pm if you can. I was informed that there is another group reservation of the room at 3:00pm. We can move out in smaller groups to the main part of the restaurant after that but for the main group get […]

Ricochetti are invited to join two-time Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist Michael P. Ramirez and John Miller for an exclusive dinner this Thursday at 5:45 near Hillsdale College, Mi.  Following Michael’s 8 PM public speech and slide show at Lane Hall 125 on campus, we’ll cap the evening with drinks and conversation at a local watering hole.  Be […]

As some of you are probably aware BrentB67 helps people get training on firearms because, frankly, unless we’re on a professional shooting team we all need it. At his insistence, not to say nagging, I have signed up for the Memorial Day weekend handgun courses at the Critical Defense Group in Greenville, TX which means that […]

Life is full of unpleasant questions. Is Ricochet legal in New York? If so, for how long? I’m going to hit New York in mid-August, unless I’m fated. That’s where I make landfall, but I’m not sure it’s a part of my visit. I don’t know anyone there, for one thing. For another, it seems far too […]

I’ve booked two of my clients to speak at CPAC 2016; Andrea Rivera, a recently added Ricochet member and founder of LAitude, the biggest conservative social club for young people on the Left Coast, and Michael P. Ramirez, the renowned two-time Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist. They will both be presenting on Thursday, and we will […]

A friend who cannot attend CPAC is trying to unload his $300 full conference ticket, so if you want to go, and have been waiting for a break, contact me at melissa@ricochetmeetup.com to be connected.  Also, for those willing to brave the inevitable brisk weather, we are planning a Ricochet Meetup for March 4 during […]

What would the Ricochetti in the Houston area say to a meet-up in January? Perhaps the afternoon of  January 16 0r 23 – 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm? The last meet up was at a Rudy’s on the north side of Houston. We could do something like that again, or perhaps somewhere else. There are […]

The More Things Change…

Millennials just don’t get it. We know this because the media tells us so. Millennials are reprimanded (at college graduations, no less) as being the “least knowledgeable graduating class in history.” They are ridiculed because they won’t leave their parents nest (incurring the label “boomerang generation“), a fact that has been exacerbated by government social umbrellas like Obamacare (providing Mommy and Daddy’s insurance until 26). They are viewed as narcissistic and self-involved as demonstrated by their social media addictions.
