Can AOC Chill Out for Cultural Cool Cred?

MiniAOCLeftist thugs bullied and threatened the life of an 8-year-old girl for daring to parody, to expose to laughter, their leader AOC. The leftists, who have so far faced no criminal or even social media company sanction, have proven, once again, that totalitarians cannot tolerate laughter at them or their ideas. Yet, if AOC could only chill out and seize the obvious pop-culture reference, couldn’t she gain a broader and deeper cultural cool cred?

The Mini AOC social media accounts were created by a father and mother with an 8-year-old daughter who had the acting chops, the presence, to gently satirize Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They did not seek anonymity. Rather, they acted as Americans who expect to be able to poke fun at our politicians.

Andrew McCarthy is wrong this time. He calls not only for a policy of regime change but also for President Trump to call for “regime change” in Iran. McCarthy should pay closer attention to the history of American presidents talking up “liberation” or regime change. Consider both President Eisenhower and President George H.W. Bush, and […]

Trumping Middle East Hands: Iran [Updated]

Start from the position that the Iranian people are hostages in their own country to a regime based on an idea, perhaps an ideology, concocted in the 1970s and propounded clearly only after Khomeini’s faction had control in the Iranian Revolution of 1979. Consider that there has been popular unrest against the regime. Factor in that the rulers are savvy and ruthless, with an elite military force keeping the regular military and the populace in check, while extending regime influence regionally and globally. The Khomeinists seem to have a strong hand, with some high cards, so how do we set about trumping their hand? Moving towards answers that are feasible takes more than hand-waving and posturing.

The U.S. military has long recognized that it was only one instrument in Uncle Sam’s tool belt, and that military strategy needed to be integrated with plans and actions by the rest of the government. This became called a “whole of government” approach. For many years, military officers, in their advanced schooling, were instructed in consideration of four “instruments of national power:” Diplomacy, Information, Military, and Economy (DIME).

Red-Green Alliance and Concentration Camps

Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (socialist) called the facilities where our immigration service detains illegal immigrants “concentration camps,” and made it clear that she meant to compare the detention centers and the American civil servants to the Nazi concentration camps and guards. She did so by invoking the post-Holocaust battle cry “Never Again,” claiming that we were violating that moral imperative. Never mind that the new masses of illegal immigants, including the children, crossed our southern border because her party has conspired to use them as hostages and golden keys to subvert our laws for permanent ruling advantage.

AOC is comfortable expressing her loathing of America and trivializing the actual Holocaust, to say nothing of the gulags. She will pay no more price than her comrades, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib. She is operating safely within the interests of the red-green alliance. The radical left and political Islamism are both served by simultaneously demonizing American defense of the constitutional republic and diminishing the public perception of real eliminationist totalitarianism.

Shame on the cowards, the ingrates who backed down instead of speaking truth to power. Shame on them for then rolling out half-truths in damage control. The left corrupts everything. We learned from multiple sources of the latest “Orange Man Bad” episode in the world of philanthropy. The James W. Foley Legacy Foundation is relatively […]

Through the Wormhole with the DNC

Prime Minister’s Questions this past week foreshadowed the American government’s future. Such a future had been seen as years, or decades, away, but events of this past week suggest the United States has entered a wormhole, as in a science fiction story. Indeed, it seems that one party has created an artificial wormhole, or hyperspace jump gate. Are we now being hurled towards convergence with British politics and society, with truth becoming stranger than fiction?

Prime Minister’s Questions, on 6 March 2019, featured questions about what Labour MPs called “knife crime.” While the Conservative PM lightly pushed back with talk of “drug gangs” as the problem, she effectively conceded the left’s position by citing an “offensive weapons” bill as a part of the government’s response. The accepted range of debate in Britain is now over how helpless the subjects of the realm should be rendered, firearms having long been restricted to near non-existence for ordinary people.
