rachel carsonOn Tuesday, Google celebrated Rachel Louise Carson, arguably the mother of modern environmentalism, and, in the remarkable way modernism has with irony, murderess of tens of millions. I despise Carson, her almost single-handed fabrication of the DDT scare, and especially the “savior of the world” conceit of environmentalists resulting in the deaths of millions of, dare I say it, black African children. If I hadn’t already been told so many times that leftist and environmentalists are genetically immune to it, I might believe the ban on DDT was a racist ethnic cleansing program.

It’s positively scandalous that there are schools named after Carson — schools! With children attending! In Chicago! And other urban centers with large populations of African-Americans. Pagan “Earth Day” celebrations including Carson-worship are part of nearly every public school curriculum. Can you imagine sending your kid to Adolf Hitler Elementary? Well, he killed fewer people than Rachel Carson and her genocidal movement. By some estimates over 50 million people have died from malaria since the DDT ban took effect, and counting.

My fantasy is to see the face of every DDT-banning environmentalist just before we send him to live permanently (however long that may be) and DEET-free, into malaria mosquito infested villages with only a mosquito net as defense. “Have a nice life! You might want to reconsider sleeping, so you can make sure you don’t accidentally expose some juicy body part in the middle of the night.” Insert smiley face here.

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Outrage Brigades Attack MSNBC, SNL — Jon Gabriel

The vigilant PC watchdogs of MSNBC took a 60-second break from fretting about racism to ring in Cinco de Mayo. An early morning host honored Mexico’s proud victory over the French by stumbling around the studio in a sombrero, shaking maracas and taking a swig from a cheap bottle of tequila.

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. The Benefits of Not Giving the Benefit of the Doubt

Teaching children to give others the benefit of the doubt is good parenting. Adults who give their neighbors and co-workers the benefit of the doubt are better citizens and lead happier lives than those who don’t.

Ordinary interaction between people is often subject to misinterpretation. Did that person rudely cut in front of me or did she think I wasn’t in line? Was I given a lousy seat because the hostess didn’t like me or was it a compliment that she thought I could add some life to the table with the dull in-laws? Was my boss intentionally ignoring me when we passed on the sidewalk or did he truly not notice me?

Donald Sterling’s racist rant has been front page news on practically every American sporting magazine for the last week. Everyone has their own take on the lessons to be learned from this episode – from the “ironic” fact that Sterling is a Democrat to the legality of using a taped recording in court of someone […]

Promoted from the Ricochet Member Feed by Editors Created with Sketch. NBA Commissioner Bans Spike Lee for Life—Brian Watt

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made the following statement today at a press conference in response to racist, incendiary public comments — and an action that resulted in death threats directed at completely innocent people — by filmmaker Spike Lee, who currently holds a position with Sirius XM NBA Radio, joint venture of the NBA and Sirius XM.

“The views expressed by Mr. Lee are deeply offensive and harmful; that they came from someone who derives financial compensation from the NBA only heightens the damage and my personal outrage.

Donald Sterling’s comments, opinions and past behavior are dreadful – no doubt about it. I just wonder how the NBA is going to cope with the next thought crime that comes along. What happens to the next guy who drops an anti-gay slur? (Frozen Chosen asked this in another thread.) What about if a black […]

When I heard Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s comments about African Americans and their dependence on government, I reacted the same way as I imagine many of you did. “Oh no. . . just what we need. . . . now we’re all racists.”

Many on the right have been rallying around Bundy and his stand against the federal government over grazing rights, but when he made a speech this week comparing the condition of blacks under slavery to their dependency on the government, several GOP politicians distanced themselves from him. Who can blame them, given this politically correct environment?

Imagine the social upheaval if someone in the 1930s invented a process to transform blacks into whites. That is the premise of Black No More, a novel by Harlem Renaissance author George S. Schuyler. It’s a risky premise that could have failed in the wrong hands. Schuyler made it work, with wit and verve. The […]
