This was a memorable week in many ways, from national news to family tragedy. We spent part of it reviewing the best westerns (no pun intended) and their heroes, part of it memorializing a cool character who left the stage too soon, and a few days wishing we were as cool as any of them. […]

RMFC Exhibition Match: In Honor of Boss Mongo

Brendan was one of the coolest characters I’ve ever been blessed to know. He was also one of the all-time great Ricochet members. His humor and unique insight into the world around us will be sorely missed. In honor of him I’d like to posit this question: Who is the coolest movie character you wish you could know in real life?

Nothing on the line here. Just for kicks and giggles.

Last week we fixed some of our least favorite movies, giving them subtle changes that would have made them so much better. If only things had been different. DJEJ tore apart Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit offering several improvements that will leave us fuming over what might have been, and earning him the right to ask: […]

Time to put your thinking caps on. Last week we discussed bad on-screen chemistry. Revenge of the Sith took the prize over Twilight and showed how a few bad decisions can destroy an otherwise interesting story. So this week the question is more of task: Fix a movie. Take a movie that was flawed in […]

Last week we dealt with dark comedies about waring married couples, loveable assassins, down-on-their-luck Bible era side figures, and a few rednecks here and there. All of them took a back seat to Stalin though, which is fitting I guess. LC called it and thus gets to ask: What movie has the worst on-screen chemistry […]

RushBabe49 took the competition back to school last week and ended up pitting a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, and a criminal, against Delta House. Which is kind of like pitting a Delta team against Antifa – It was no contest. Philo chose Animal House for the win and earned the right […]

Dr. Bastiat managed to rack up back-to-back victories on the strength of Rocky, and Psycho, in fights 60 and 61. But nobody has ever three-peated, and so RushBabe49 took the prize last time around with Apollo 13, earning herself the right to ask: What is the best movie set in a school, any level school?  […]

The villain stole the show last week with Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter, and a T-800 terminator doing their darndest to take down the psycho pipsqueak known as Norman Bates. And even though it was close, the mamma’s boy managed to pull it off giving back-to-back wins to Dr. Bastiat and also earning him the right […]

Last week’s movie fight featured our members fighting about which movie with a fight featured the best fight. It came down to The Quiet Man versus Rocky, and while both Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago have managed to knock Rocky off his feet, only Mr. T was able to keep him there. In any case, […]

Last week we almost had a three-way tie in the race-against-the-clock question. But Ferris Bueller managed to do what he always does, win. This week I figured we’d ease up and ask a simple little question. What’s the best movie fight? Mano a mano, tooth versus claw, ship versus ship – anything goes so long as […]

It was a week of cowards and scumbags in more ways than one. With regard to our little competition that meant pitting Eric Idle against Jeremy Davies, or rather, a pathetic Knight with minstrels in tow against a weenie interpreter afraid to use his rifle. While Upham’s cowardice had graver consequences, when danger reared its […]

In our previous fight we scratched the surface of the Japanese film world and learned a few things from the members who know it inside and out. It came down to The Seven Samurai – which we learned was the foundation for all “magnificent seven” style team-ups that came later – versus Godzilla. But often […]

Our battle over movies set in the American Civil War  The War of Northern Aggression The war between the states 1860’s ended in a tie between Glory, and Gone With The Wind. Seawriter called it for Glory, but in a Joshua Chamberlain manner of honoring ones former adversary, IM Fine bestowed the right to ask […]

We spent the better part of last week immersed in the world of chick flicks and found that that designation isn’t so easily defined. I believe it was Miffed White Male who borrowed a phrase to properly explain that, “I’m not sure I can define them, but I know one when I see one.” One […]

We flooded the post last week with our favorite movie scenes. There were duels, technicolor awakenings, smack talk, home runs, bombing runs, running from asteroids, and some other running. But as Richard O’Shea pointed out, there were five guys who couldn’t run away from getting waxed by Michael Corleone, and so earned Richard the right […]

Last week we celebrated our one year anniversary by mixing it up a little and including bonus questions. This week we’re back to normal, and on the strength of The Sandlot and a bad date-movie story, I’m asking the question this week: What is your favorite movie scene or sequence, one you go out of […]

Well folks, it’s been one year since we started our little fight club. We’ve covered a range of topics and learned quite a bit about one another. I’m proud to be a part of this dysfunctional family of sorts, and that being the case, I’d like to celebrate our one-year anniversary by getting to know […]

Last week we honored those fine dramatic performances by comedic actors. Mary Tyler Moore won the day for IM Fine, who decided this week to turn the question on its head and ask: What is the best comedic performance by an actor (male or female) originally known for dramatic roles? The Rules: Post your answer as […]

As some of you know, the week 50 fight was called with @danok1 as the winner, however it’s possible that @rushbabe49 may have been tied at the time. I can’t say for certain either way. Ties are decided by the member who posts the question, but owing to the uncertainty (and the fact that I’d […]

Last week we had a silent shootout courtesy of Eustace C. Scrub. While Charlie Chaplin garnered the most entries, it boiled down to Mel Brooks vs. Giorgio Moroder. In the end, Vince screwed up on the counting we just couldn’t decide a winner, so both fighters will get their day. First up is MWD B612 […]
