Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club Political Podcast for September 19, 2017 it’s the #AmnestyDon does DACA edition of the show with your hosts Todd Feinburg, Boston/Hartford axis radio talk show host and Mike Stopa, nanophysicist. This week on the show we discuss amnesty – amnesty for “Dreamers” – those poor kids who, through no fault of their own were dragged to America as children and who have known no other country but America. It would be cruel, wouldn’t it, to take out their parents’ sins on the kids? Really, we’re going to just put them on a bus or a plane and send them back to a country they hardly even know? Really?

Yes, you know. This is the new Trump ideology. This is Rick Perry’s heart and Jeb Bush’s love. This is exactly what caused a major section of the Republican Party and otherwise conservative folks to abandon the GOPe. This is giving sympathy to the law breakers and forgetting the once forgotten then briefly remembered and then forgotten again American people who have borne the brunt of the illegal onslaught and who don’t feel an ounce of that sympathy. This is the kind of thing that leads to burning MAGA hats.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America discuss a good day for judicial conservatives as Neil Gorsuch distances himself from some of Trump’s tweets on the judiciary, the Senate confirms Jeff Sessions to be Attorney General and Sen. Tim Scott exposes the racist messages he got for supporting Sessions.  They also cringe as Tucker Carlson suggests Elizabeth Warren would have defeated Donald Trump.  And they slam Kellyanne Conway for blatantly promoting Ivanka Trump’s products in a national television interview.

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America are pleased to see nine Senate Democrats claim to want an up or down vote for Judge Gorsuch.  They also applaud Missouri passing right to work legislation but wince as opponents may be able to stall the law from taking effect for almost two years.  And they scold President Trump for tweeting about Ivanka’s battle with Nordstrom.

Welcome to the Harvard Lunch Club podcast for November 9, 2016 it’s the “Trump is a Genius” edition of the podcast. We’ll discuss the new reality of November 9, 2016. We’ve been wondering what this day was going to be like for *ever*. And it turns out to be better than we could possibly have imagined it! Not only did Trump win, but the sheer energy of the victory carried along almost all of his detractors on the right – at least temporarily – like a tsunami…a temporary tsunami?

We will discuss the change in the electorate that brought this about. Are the blue collar, Reagan Democrat, rust belt “leftover” voters a permanent feature of the new Republican coalition? Are Democrats in Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin – what Michael Moore called the “Brexit states,” destined to be a vanishing breed just as Democrats in the South have vanished?
