Story Hour with Bridget Phetasy is a segment where Bridget reminisces with cousin Maggie and tells stories explaining who she is and how she got here. Full transcript available here: WiW78-StoryHour5-Transcript

Because Bridget’s globe-trotting wanderings are too much to cover in just one Story Hour, here’s part 1 of her international travels. Covering the first time she ever left the country and why she had to spend the whole trip with Desitin all over her face, traveling through Canada in the trunk of a car as a teenager, almost getting stranded in Mexico, and how she wound up in Tokyo and Barcelona. Frankly, it’s a miracle she’s still alive and she credits an acutely developed “spidey sense” for narrowly avoiding several dangerous situations.

The Art of Picasso

I don’t know art. I’m not even sure I know what I like. But the simple fact that I don’t understand it is reason enough to study the matter. This past month I had the opportunity to visit Barcelona. While I was there I went through the Picasso museum. If you’re looking for the elusive dividing line between art and supercilious nonsense Picasso is a good man to study.

Man in a Beret

David French of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America close the week with three crazy martinis.  They unload on CNN’s Wolf Blitzer and Jim Sciutto for speculating on air that the radical Muslim terrorist in Barcelona got the idea for a van attack from watching the events in Charlottesville.  They also hammer Antifa’s argument that it engages in violence to protect nonviolence and only against white supremacists, pointing out that Antifa viciously attacks anyone it doesn’t agree with and that it is the job of police to protect nonviolence.  And they sigh as liberals start calling for the removal of statues of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, just as their critics predicted earlier in the week.

Breaking: Terror Attack in Barcelona

A terrorist driving a vehicle struck many pedestrians in Barcelona with 13 confirmed deaths at this time. Barcelona police have declared it a terror attack. From the LA Times:

A white van jumped the sidewalk in this city’s historic Las Ramblas district and crashed into a summer crowd of residents and tourists Thursday, killing at least 13, according to Spanish media. Police said they are treating the incident as a terror attack.

The Barcelona-based La Vanguardia newspaper reported at least 20 injured, and the Spanish newspaper El Pais quoted unnamed police sources as saying that armed perpetrators of the crash were holed up in a bar in Tallers Street. There was no immediate police confirmation of the latter report.
