Ludens Locutus

“Ludens Locutus” (or something similar, correct me if you like, it’s been a while), can be loosely translated into having “spoken a joke,” and it’s a common enough trope these days that I think it needs to be called out as some sort of flourish, rhetorical at best, cowardly at worst.

The latest person to jump aboard the Ludens Locutus Locomotive is our friend AOC, who’s now claiming that her unequivocal, like, statement that the, like, world is going to, like, end in, like, twelve years (giving her a bit of wiggle room to say, like, eleven or thirteen), was a joke all along, and we are nothing but a bunch of unsophisticated morons for not spotting her mordant wit. Since she made the original statement in January, I don’t believe she’s distanced herself from it at all, and she’s doubled down a few times to the effect that if we have not reduced greenhouse gases by at least 50% by 2030, we’re done.

I know many of us have been waiting impatiently for the Tina Fey impersonation of AOC that might equal the totally fair and unbiased job she used her talent for when inspired by Sarah Palin. (There is now supposed to be an SNL version with a lesser-known I haven’t seen). But, until the well known […]

There is a certain tenor to the new Dim Representatives which reminds me of the Cultural Revolution. I’m far from the first one to notice this about the Left. We already have collegiate re-education camps. The MSM figuratively gives opponents dunce caps to wear. And like all totalitarian regimes, people are being required to attest […]

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America are glad to see New Yorkers souring on Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez despite her glowing media coverage and roll their eyes at her explanation for her dip in popularity. They also question the journalistic integrity at Reuters after reporter Joseph Menn held on to a story […]

Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America recoil at the mass murder of 49 Muslims in New Zealand, the radical manifesto that came with it, and the aggravating tendency of politicians and activists to claim instantly that an attack vindicates their existing political positions. They also slam Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for mocking […]

I discovered both the left and the right have written their own versions of Jesus Christ Superstar (Is nothing sacred?). This post will contain the left’s version, and the right’s version will be in a separate post. Here is a song from AOC Superstar (sung to the tune of “Jesus Christ Superstar”): Everytime I think […]

For having such disdain towards capitalism and greed, AOC is basically running a business right now…and she is the CEO. This is all quite ironic, but the most amazing part is how awful she is at this job. She has been handed the keys to the kingdom (via the Lapdog Media), and has said some […]

Socialism Like . . . Sweden?

A few months ago Ricochet member @mattyvan put up a great post about Sweden, Sweden. Lessons for America? , which included an hour long documentary about Sweden’s economy. Since then we have seen Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez become one of the most popular young Democrats and one of the oldest, Bernie Sanders, announce that he will run for president in 2020. With admitted socialist becoming more and more more prominent, it might be worth revisiting this topic.

While Cuba and Venezuela give us good examples of what socialism can do to a country, they do not exactly tell a happy story. So, the folks promoting “Democratic Socialism” are telling us to look to Sweden as an example of what we can do in America. The problem is, Sweden doesn’t really fit the model of what Bernie and company are trying to sell.

Build a Wall Around Nouveau Intellectual Know-Nothings

Brandon Darby has a target on his head from the Mexican cartels. Concealing his Second Amendment rights under his vest, he hides among some of the most dangerous people in the Western Hemisphere. With more than half of the 32 Mexican states being run by the cartels, Brandon, a father and family man, understands his life is on the line daily.

We just interviewed Brandon, who was at an undisclosed location on the southern border. Unfortunately, it was a phone call and only after the interview, we realized we didn’t pick up his feed. Truly tragic as he discusses the reality at the border most of the media is missing.

Inspired by Richard Easton’s brilliant AOC song parody (https://ricochet.com/595256/one-side-now-the-green-raw-deal/), I figured I should try one. Sung to the tune of “I’m Coming Out”, with apologies to Diana Ross: [Extremely long musical intro] More

Humble Beginnings

Now, I’m the last person to try and defend the non-intellect AOC has displayed before, during, and after her election. However, I see some trends we conservatives are using when describing her, and it isn’t right.

Actually, it’s also on the left, but let’s bring it up. I see articles about how this “bartender” ended up getting elected. My personal disdain for her aside, why imply someone who was “merely” a bartender can’t represent her district? Next, you’ll be saying a Manhattan real estate billionaire can’t be President.

Is AOC Dangerous?

Award-winning actor and Twitter master, James Woods thinks so and he may have a point. In a nation where the average citizen can’t correctly identify the three branches … er, chambers … er, branches of the federal government, or who believe that members of Congress sign bills into law, or that Climate Change will wipe out civilization in a mere 12 years, then Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (a.k.a., AOC) is the perfect candidate.

Her basic knowledge of economics, politics, history, and science aligns quite nicely with a large segment of the American electorate and not just the same electorate who voted overwhelmingly for Hillary Clinton but all of the younger voters who hated Clinton or didn’t have a chance to vote because they were too young or slept through Election Day in their parents’ basements or were blocking traffic in Portland and similar urban environs.
