A good and timely warning – not directed at the Ricocheti, unless any are tempted to Alt-Right. If they are, I’d be interested in hearing why. http://thefederalist.com/2016/11/10/millennials-shouldnt-heed-alt-rights-siren-song/ More

It’s 2016, and we Jews have a lot to answer for. A political battle wages in the United States. On one side, a group powerfully desirous of government-enforced universal human love, understanding, and prosperity. On the other, a group that campaigns for the preservation of tribe and nation in a world ever more violent and […]

Promoted from the Ricochet Member Feed by Editors Created with Sketch. The Greatness Agenda Must Repudiate the Alt-Right

Elections and wars may defeat the embodiments of an opinion, but no view is ever actually confined to the ash heap of history. In spite of the terror and the body count of the 20th century, “errors” persist. Conservatives facing defeat may take refuge in the notion that the cause which ought to win and the cause which does win are not always the same. That fact should remind us of the importance of joining right with might. Yet even should our views prevail, we are aware that our adversaries will always be with us.

Donald Trump’s ill-advised hesitation to condemn white supremacism has given the alt-right an outsized importance relative to their numbers and has enabled the eager smear masters of the Left to pigeon-hole his policies. Distinguishing the “greatness agenda” — America first foreign policy, a trade policy that works for American workers as well as consumers, and an immigration policy that controls the border — from the Alt-Right is a pre-requisite to earning enough voters to defeat Hillary Clinton.

Recently we’ve had Milo Yiannopoulos’s evocative visage at the top of a thread about the threat of Alt-Right. I gather from the thread that the Alt-Right (a thing I’d never heard of) veers into racism, antisemitism, white supremacism, and sexism. Really? If it does, Milo should not be there. I only stumbled into Milo on YouTube […]

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Is Anyone Worried about the Alt-Right?

Several recent Ricochet comments have referred to the “Alt-Right,” mostly in passing. Since I wasn’t familiar with the term, I decided to find out what it actually was. My investigation has been an unnerving experience and I, for one, am worried for this country. Most people will acknowledge that the beliefs and goals of the Alt-Right are despicable. Their proponents are mostly young, self-described radicals who have found the positions of Donald Trump admirable (which, I know, does not make all Donald Trump supporters Alt-Right).

During the most recent Need to Know podcast, Mona Charen, Jay Nordlinger, and guest David French condemned the Alt-Right without reservation. They cited websites where the comment sections had to be shut down due to the volume of venomous comments made against people who didn’t support Donald Trump. Several sources I reviewed regarding the Alt-Right movement highlighted an article from Breitbart written by Allum Bokhari and Milo Yiannopoulos (pictured), who believe that the movement is mischaracterized. They say:

Every Ricochetti whether you are #Never/Sometimes/AlwaysTrump should read this article from the April 11th issue of National Review. Whatever your feelings about Trump, the insight into the Alt-Right and the way it feels about certain Right Wing shibboleths is both illuminating and, to me, frightening. For example, on The Constitution: More
