Recommended by Ricochet Members Created with Sketch. Alan Dershowitz On Fire

Alan Dershowitz, representing the President during the Senate Impeachment Trial, responds to the point from the House Managers (I believe Zoe Lofgren, in particular) that most constitutional scholars today don’t agree with his interpretation of what constitutes sufficient grounds for impeachment and in the process shreds the House Managers and Lawrence Tribe. It’s a beautiful thing to behold.

Finish the week strong with your Friday martinis! Join Jim and Greg as they discuss the roster of President Trump’s impeachment defense team, including former independent counsel Ken Starr and famed defense attorney Alan Dershowitz. They also roll their eyes as Arizona Sen. Martha McSally tries to fundraise off of calling CNN reporter Manu Raju a “liberal hack” and CNN goes into full martyr mode to pretend McSally committed some sort of grave assault on the first amendment. And they get a kick out of Politico reporting that many Democrats are just now realizing that Joe Biden is not going to implode before the caucuses and primaries begin.

Contributor Post Created with Sketch. Dennis Prager on the Self-Righteously Suicidal West and False Morality

For this week’s Big Ideas with Ben Weingarten podcast, I had nationally syndicated radio host, columnist, author of numerous books, teacher, film producer and co-founder of PragerU, Dennis Prager, on the podcast to discuss among other things:

  • How Dennis Prager ended up a conservative as an Ivy League-educated Jewish intellectual from Brooklyn, New York — contrary to so many of his peers
  • How perceptions of human nature divide Left and Right
  • Whether government has filled the void of religion for the increasingly secular and progressive American coasts
  • How the good intentions that underlie Leftist policy prescriptions lead to horrendous outcomes — and emotion versus reason on the Left and Right
  • The false morality underlying European immigration policy with respect to the Muslim world, and Prager’s criticism of Jewish support of mass immigration consisting disproportionately of Jew-haters
  • The self-righteous suicidalism of the West
  • The Leftist bias of social media platforms and PragerU’s legal battle with YouTube/Google

Live from Martha’s Vineyard, it’s the comedic stylings (and Constitutional insights) of Alan Dershowitz. He talks about his new book, “The Case Against Impeaching Trump,” life for a liberal “turncoat” on Martha’s Vineyard, and why he believes the Left hasn’t “abandoned” the fundamental principle of free speech. (It’s a trick answer–don’t miss it!)

Also, Boston Democrats want to give non-citizens the right to vote, while in New Hampshire they want non-New Hampshire residents voting there, too. Is it craven politics, or do Democrats really have such little respect for democracy?

Promoted from the Ricochet Member Feed by Editors Created with Sketch. Alan Dershowitz Reacts To Marilyn Mosby’s Charges

Did Baltimore State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby overreach in quickly charging of the police officers involved in the death of Freddie Gray? Will a judge remove her from prosecuting the officers based on her additional politically-tinged activist comments at the end of her news conference?
