#StopWhitePeople2K16
Unfortunately I did not make up this hashtag. In fact, it’s not a hashtag in a social media search-term way. It’s the name of a course for Residential Assistants (what I remember calling dorm parents) at SUNY Binghamton.
Let me repeat: #StopWhitePeople2K16 is a training course for those responsible for our kids domiciles while at college.
According to the Binghamton Review “the event was meant to teach RA’s about “understanding diversity, privilege, and the society we function within.” This type of rhetoric is commonplace in the university, and has become inseparable from the concept of social justice.”
#StopWhitePeople2K16 has its supporters. If you read the comment section under the Review article, you will find justification for these reeducation camps.
This is a public university funded not only by students and parents, but taxpayers. This public institution houses a not insignificant number of college-educated people who believe what is necessary to combat bigotry and racism is a racist and bigoted course called #StopWhitePeople2K16.
If a course called #StopBlack(Gay, Muslim, fill in the blank)People2K16 this story would not have just caught a gust of social media wind, it would have been above the fold on every newspaper and leading news cycles for a week (a lifetime in today’s fast-paced media).
Until America (pointing at you, mainstream media) questions the left’s double standard on racism, the divide between races will only widen. When President Obama reportedly invites Al “White interloper,” “Don’t give the Jew a dime,” and “Burn, Cracker, burn” Sharpton to the White House over 100 times, it suggests that those on the left do not acknowledge black racism. It sends a message to our youth that white racism is the crux of our social problems and therefore we should only empathize with black racists.
And the result is that #AllLivesMatter is considered hate speech.

The result being this, though. We have lost pretty much everywhere. The presidency was lost a few months ago, and the Supreme Court has been lost for years. It is likely that conservatism’s only hope would be to focus like a laser on education reform and the privatization of public institutions. Ending the liberal monopoly on schools would be a step down the long road to recovery of our national sanity, and right now, I’m not seeing any other way to set ourselves down that path.
I don’t accept losing, especially when it comes to, well everything. I grew up playing in the woods behind my house around the WW2 bunkers where in the face of insurmountable odds, Winston Churchill never gave up. Neither should we.
The left really knew what it was doing focusing on the young, didn’t they?
Good grief, leftism is like a cult – like the ‘moonies’. Anyone who disagrees with them, or who has a different view point just doesn’t have the ‘truth’.
Andrew Breitbart would just laugh at these people. We need to be brave enough to laugh at them – to ridicule them – as they so richly deserve. This is just about power – getting it, holding it, wielding it.
You want to know what ‘white privilege’ is these days? Being required to pay for everything – but having no right to our own views and opinions.
I love how “good” arguments uses scare quotes. It makes me imagine the writer encountered someone who put forward an argument that logically struck a nerve, but they just couldn’t bring themselves to give this obviously “uneducated” person the pleasure of having it called an actual good argument.
And we question why white identity politics is a thing in 2016.
Of course they did. This is why Bill Ayres ‘abandoned’ the Weather Underground approach and worked to gain influence over the education system – to train the teachers. Much more effective .
And they win because most Americans aren’t really paying attention. And because they’re afraid to be called ugly names.
I hate to ask this, DS, but could you put a “trigger warning” in here, somewhere? Kidding: Kindly hold a receptacle while I retch…Thanks!
Dave, your link to the Bingingham Review doesn’t work.
Academia 2016 = Jim Crow South 1950’s
Amen brother, I will not go down without a fight.
I think its time for ‘society’ to stop requiring us to pay for everybody’s stuff when they apparently hate us so much, and just seem to want to be rid of us.
The Left’s advantage is that their message is easy to market and appeals to the young and idealistic. Our advantage is that sooner or later everyone learns that Leftist ideals when put into practice don’t work. I proceed from the assumption that this is less a battle and more a dialectic where eventually we synthesize the best ideas, even in spite of ourselves.
Dagnabbit! Sorry, here it is.
I would think the young people would find the message of freedom appealing, but no one talks about that anymore. Do you ever hear the republican leadership talk about it? Neither do I.
And no one is telling them the truth about collectivism – how it just gives terrible people control and power over you. These ‘elites’ get rich and powerful, and live privileged lives, while the average guy gets pushed down.
I remember some business man who grew up in an eastern European socialist country before moving to America saying that the primary ‘mood’ of the people of his country was despair because they had no control over their lives – because it didn’t matter what they did or didn’t do, nothing changed.
Someone needs to explain this to the ‘kids’. They think this works in western Europe – they cannot see that socialism is failing even in Europe.
@lilybart, it’s only September 2nd, and your comments in this thread alone have made my monthly subscription worthwhile!
I don’t plan to give up either. But I don’t know what to do. Except to shine a light on the bigotry of these actions, and celebrate like crazy when there are actions like the University of Chicago. It is literally brainwashing and propaganda, and the kids can’t see it. Sigh.
Re-education is a half measure. If they really want to stop white people they will need a final solution.
The problem with that is by the time most adults realize the bankruptcy of Leftism there’s a new batch of yutes to corrupt. Alinsky’s design was brilliant and will likely be the foundational principles of our next President.
Conservative messaging has been the subject of countless posts and comments on Ricochet, including more than a few by yours truly. I’ve said it before and will repeat, until the Right stops delivering grand speeches about ethereal intangibles such as ‘liberty’, ‘freedom’, and ‘small government’, they will continue to lose. These words only mean things to the echo chamber, but nothing to those whose hearts we need to change.
Instead of the flowery language tell people exactly how their policies will impact lives. Show how local control of schools will lead to more accountable teachers, better education, better jobs and richer lives. Show how local control of infrastructure will lead to families spending more time together at dinner tables instead of idling in rush hour traffic.
Make it mean something to people who hate politics and barely pay attention to the issues. How will it better their lives directly.
This is a state school, right? Is there no one in the state legislature willing to make an issue of it? Any New Yorkers live in a district with a courageous state rep?
Yup Binghampton is in the SUNY system, my sister went there, and I doubt any rep will do anything but if this could be made public to parents that may actually be helpful. Most people don’t agree with this and this is the kind of that is actually hurting some colleges. Such as Missouri State, whose admission is down due to what happened there last year.
If they can convince them to ‘self-sterilize’ “for the sake of the planet” while they’re at it…They’ve got it made, haven’t they?
They’ve been doing that since the the 60’s
Zika, the best thing to happen for the population control kooks since pajamas.
They’re still working on it, so they don’t have a very good success rate, do they?
Even though Maryland (my home) remains a liberal bastion, we are a state where you can see your thoughts in action. Larry Hogan, our new Republican governor, won an upset victory over the favored Democrat candidate Anthony Brown largely by appealing to a desire for more local control in order to ameliorate our statewide debt problems. He also largely ignored social issues, thus avoiding many traditional Leftist MSM traps. He remains very popular despite a hostile State house.
If we can get a pragmatic, center-right governor in Maryland, then America can pull back from the brink. Words of optimism to start your Labor Day weekend. :-)
*Looking down from judge’s bench* Did you just say “yutes?”
#StopPayingTaxesToFundLeftyTripe.
#NoLivesMatter is my motto.
What a joke of a time we live in. The lunacy and delusion are comical.
