Queuing For the Rumor of Diapers – Maracaibo, Venezuela
Last month, this was the view a few blocks away from where I teach: Venezuelans wait all day for the chance to get into a price-controlled, government grocery store within Centro Comercial Costa Verde in Maracaibo, Venezuela.
It was rumored that diapers would be available.

Wow. But:
It could never happen here. . .
It’s the apocalypse.
“There will be diapers and rumors of diapers…”

This might be a good teaching aid.
The Guardian had a photo essay showing what people have in their houses to eat in Caracas. Lord help them…
Stay safe, Timothy.
And yet none of them look emaciated. . .
Clearly, this is all due to the United States using its imperialist power to prevent goods from reaching Venezuela.
Shhhh… You don’t want people to catch on that this is all part of Michelle’s latest health and fitness scheme.
I didn’t know we had a member living in Venezuela. I have been trying to following the collapse of Venezuela but we don’t get much news and what we do get I am not sure it’s all true. Could you be convinced to post more often Timothy? Would you describe your daily life?
You can download a free-to-print English version of the
gameinstruction booklet and game pieces (but not, it seems, the board itself) from Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance:http://ipn.gov.pl/en/news/2011/download-english-print-and-play-version-of-kolejka-game
It is a nightmare what is occurring in that nation.
Seconded.
Venezuelans are Feeling the Bern.
Not to worry. Maduro has ordered the takeover of any business or factory that closed ( most because it was impossible to operate without a loss) . That should solve everything.

Whatever it takes to survive.
5,000 Starving Venezuelans Break Into Gov’t Owned Supermarket And Raid It For Food
This should be on the main feed, if possible.
At least the evil rich got punished. Starvation is a small price to pay for social justice!
When will Sean Penn, Oliver Stone, and Danny Glover head down there and help out?
Tony, if you can write something more about what’s going on there, we’d love to hear about it! PM me if you have questions.
Tim,
Hey, it still works.

Jim
Allowing the mothers to re-enter the workforce and achieve their dreams! What’s your problem?
Venezuelan diapers are the best in the world. People come from all over and will stand in line for hours just on the rumor that they haven’t all been sold out. They’re completely reusable, and like the government, don’t ever have to be replaced or clean out.
Such greed. Better crack down on the amount of American imperialist media they’re consuming. It’s clearly giving them counter-revolutionary ideas.
Agreed. More posts please!
Just the best. You really can’t believe how great these diapers are. If you appreciate really great diapers, you’ll definitely agree. Only at the Sharper Image.
That second clip is my favorite part of the movie.
Watch yourself, Timothy. It sounds like things are heating up in the capital.
I’m going to say something that many will consider racist, insensitive and imperialistic, so grab your blanky and a warm puppy and head to a safe space.
Venezuela was a basket case before Chávez and he and Nicolás Maduro have only made things worse.
They borrowed heavily from China and printed tons of Bolivars. Consequently inflation runs officially at 150% and unofficially at 800% per year. We do the same thing but get away with it because we still have a fairly robust private economy and the blessings of the world’s reserve currency. (And that could end within a generation.)
They nationalized industry in the name of “fairness” and made everyone (outside of government) equally poor.
The question becomes this: Do they have the culture that will allow them to get their political and economic acts together? Or are people who are outside of the Nortwestern European cultural traditions simply doomed to this kind of folly and corruption without end?
I think the motion is carried.
What about Chile?
Looks like my native Romania when I was born, but more colorful & with revolts, it seems. My older brothers queued up like these folks when they were kids… I’m going to skip the jokes about Sen. Sanders & so forth. It’s going to get worse, I fear.
But at least they don’t have to pay sales tax on the diapers or female sanitary products. They’re in much better shape than the evil US.
