As someone who preferred Rubio to Cruz (but previously preferred Carly to both of them), this is significant.

Cruz is scum.  When he went after Rubio in Florida, he went back to being a faint choice in the back rooms of my choices.

I’d rather go third party that support a jerk like that.

Cruz could probably fix the problem by making nice with Rubio, but he won’t because he is a jerk.  which means he would also ruin the Conservative brand as President.  He wouldn’t survive an entire term let alone be re-elected.

Rubio is great for going after Cruz in TX, depriving him of a delegate-sweeping percentage, even though he never had a chance of winning, but Cruz is scum for trying to win FL, even though it may be our only hope of beating Trump?

(See Ace of Spades today for a compelling case that it’s crucial for Cruz to take out Rubio in FL, even if it means losing that state to Trump.)

You’re being overly kind to label this rhetoric as “grief”. In my humble opinion.

There is some fascinating ILLUMINATION on the ugliness of some Ricochet posts happening in the Main Feed over Ted Cruz, eh?

It is not Cruz’s fault that Rubio has shown zero ability to win. Deferring to Rubio in Florida would have shown weakness, and more importantly, it would postpone the time when neverTrump coalesces around a single candidate.  Any postponement of that moment just plays into Trump’s hand.

We have a chance to run an articulate conservative against a truly damaged Democratic nominee, but time is running out.

katievs: (See Ace of Spades today for a compelling case that it’s crucial for Cruz to take out Rubio in FL, even if it means losing that state to Trump.)

There are three possible explanations for Cruz trying to play in Florida:

    1. He is micro-targeting likely Trump voters or Trump strongholds to keep Trump from winning the vote.
    2. He is trying to take down Rubio because he believes if Rubio wins Florida Rubio will not drop out and Trump will continue winning pluralities.
    3. He thinks he can win Florida.

I think 3 is pretty unlikely. 1 would be great to keep Florida out of Trump’s hands. I think 2 is the most likely reason to play in Florida however – and it’s a politically sound, if somewhat unpalatable, decision that is high-risk (which is one of the reasons I think it’s likely since Cruz has a habit of high-risk plays in political contests).

I, too, would be thrilled to see Carly in a Cruz administration. I think she would be a superb Chief of Staff. As well as any role that lets her lead the assault against crony capitalism.

Is it an “‘endorsement” if she doesn’t use the word “endorse”?  Because she doesn’t.  I’m just wondering, maybe that’s why it’s not on Drudge.

Ok now Ted, announce what post you have in mind for Carly.  I’m listening . . .

The nature of Rubio’s supporters’ reaction is all I need to know that backing Cruz was the correct choice. Now let’s muster our resources to beat Trump and then Clinton so we can name a SCOTUS nominee next March.

Columbo:There is some fascinating ILLUMINATION on the ugliness of some Ricochet posts happening in the Main Feed over Ted Cruz, eh?

But your comment also illuminates an equally depressing phenomenon: Ricochet derangement syndrome.

So one person out of 10 in this thread makes a negative comment about Cruz and that somehow shows that all of Ricochet hates Cruz?

Look at that poll in the right-hand margin. Cruz is the favorite among members here. The posts and comments on the site reflect that. Yet a small but vocal group somehow thinks the entire site is in the tank for Rubio despite ample evidence to the contrary.

If that comes to pass, I want Fiorina pinch-hitting for Ted in the debates w/Hillary. Not that Ted can’t handle Hill, but Fiorina would make it look like poetry.

As for this endorsement, I think it’s great news but likely won’t make a splash.

For everyone gnashing their teeth about how Ricochet is Rubioland, here’s a newsflash: Rubio is not the natural candidate for Ricochet, Fiorina is. Why? Because she’s intelligent, civil, and well-composed – the traits we aspire to here.

Unfortunately, for precisely those reasons, she was and remains a niche figure, completely unknown to most everyone in the electorate save for nerds like us. So while we’re giving each other hi-fives about this announcement, most primary voters – if they even saw this news – are probably asking themselves “Carly who?”.

    Meh…

Carly is a fire cracker, but really she is mostly irrelevant, and doesn’t speak for any real significant constituency, that isn’t already on board with Cruz.

Cruz/Fiorina ticket doesn’t seem that great too me…too much of the same note. What does she add to the ticket. I would be far more excited about a Cruz/Rubio ticket. Fiorina is really like a female Romney but less politically successful.

Wait? You wouldn’t use intelligent, civil, and well-composed to describe Marco? Isn’t that also how we would describe Romney, or Ryan, or Jindal?

First off, my comment said nothing about Romney, Ryan, and Jindal, who have also been very popular here.

Second, I would posit that Carly is both more civil, more well-composed (in terms of her gravitas), and had more substantial answers (in debates) than Rubio. She was able to sting Trump without sinking to his level the way Rubio did.
