Carly Fiorina Is Out

Republican presidential candidate businesswoman Carly Fiorina stands on stage for a pre-debate forum at the Quicken Loans Arena, Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, in Cleveland. Seven of the candidates have not qualified for the primetime debate. (AP Photo/Andrew Harnik)From the candidate’s Facebook page:

This campaign was always about citizenship—taking back our country from a political class that only serves the big, the powerful, the wealthy, and the well connected. Election after election, the same empty promises are made and the same poll-tested stump speeches are given, but nothing changes. I’ve said throughout this campaign that I will not sit down and be quiet. I’m not going to start now. While I suspend my candidacy today, I will continue to travel this country and fight for those Americans who refuse to settle for the way things are and a status quo that no longer works for them.

Our Republican Party must fight alongside these Americans as well. We must end crony capitalism by fighting the policies that allow it to flourish. We must fix our festering problems by holding our bloated, inept government bureaucracy accountable. Republicans must stand for conservative principles that lift people up and recognize all Americans have the right to fulfill their God-given potential.

To young girls and women across the country, I say: do not let others define you. Do not listen to anyone who says you have to vote a certain way or for a certain candidate because you’re a woman. That is not feminism. Feminism doesn’t shut down conversations or threaten women. It is not about ideology. It is not a weapon to wield against your political opponent. A feminist is a woman who lives the life she chooses and uses all her God-given gifts. And always remember that a leader is not born, but made. Choose leadership.

As I have said to the many wonderful Americans I have met throughout this campaign, a leader is a servant whose highest calling is to unlock potential in others. I will continue to serve in order to restore citizen government to this great nation so that together we may fulfill our potential.

Every politico who drops out of a race vows to “continue the fight.”  Have any of them ever done anything to “continue the fight”?  Or do they just raise money until the have the chance to run for something else?

I hope we’ve reached the point where all of the candidates who don’t have a realistic chance — in other words, everyone but Cruz, Rubio, and Trump — drops out. Fiorina was my favorite candidate, but she’s doing the right thing. We need to get all of the non-Trump supporters to coalesce around somebody else.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that Jeb! will hang it up anytime soon, and New Hampshire has doubtless convinced Kasich to stay in the running.

Bill Bennett had a long career in politics and continued to fight against drugs, especially for children. Rick Santorum fought for traditional values in between election runs. And no one can say Jimmy Carter faded away. He kept fighting for what he believed in, unfortunately. Just because you don’t see people doesn’t mean they aren’t working.

It’s disappointing she didn’t go farther.  What’s really disappointing is that Americans are choosing a Trump over a Fiorina.

    Adriana,

Christie makes a jerk out of himself and then goes. Obviously, I’m not exactly upset by this. However, I really feel a little sad to see Carly go. She had brains and guts. She kept coming and even in crossing swords with Donald Trump kept her cool.

Too bad. You don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone.

    Regards,

    Jim

She was great addition to the campaign season. My guess is that she’ll have place in either a Cruz or Rubio administration. A Trump administration? Uh…not so much.

I agree. I was very excited about her campaign, but she peaked so early and then fizzled out. It’s disappointing someone with so much talent and intelligence can’t get more traction.

If we actually do end up with a Jeb/Kasich ticket I’m going to start selling my services as a sorceror.

Amazing some terrible candidates can hang in there while good candidates can’t get anywhere.

    This.

Carly isn’t going away. I’m not sure who I am more disdainful of- the MSM who fears the competition against HRC and makes up rules to bar Fiorina from the top tier debates or the RNC who doesn’t understand what an asset she truly is on a national level.

She is a potent weapon; an outsider with both fiscal experience and knowledge of foreign leaders.

Attn Republicans: People really like her and not because she is a woman!

I am saddened by this announcement but it was expected. She was my early favorite.

She’s a big girl and she has to stand on her own two feet but I have to say that the RNC (and others) certainly did her no favors with these stupid debate rules. It’s so hard to understand why a party who is always characterized as just a bunch of old white people would keep her at arms length instead of promoting the real diverse picture of the GOP. Unfortunately, I don’t think it was done because the RNC is too stupid to understand what they should be doing. It’s more like they are in bed with specific people and nothing will change that fact.

I have no dog in this race yet. I may not ever.

One of her biggest problems, was that Hillary is such a weak candidate.

She was running as the anti-Hillary, and HRC is losing to Sanders.

Also you need more than just brains to run.  You need an oompf of a base for support to fall back on.  Trump has his media personality, most of the others have elected office.  She never had anything more than controversial business experience.

It was no coincidence that her poll jumps came after her debate performances and that she was never able to convert those bumps into momentum.

Fiorina is great on conservative principles, she is an excellent debater but to put it bluntly she is a horrible campaigner. She is not HRC horrible or Gilmore laughable but it is clearly her weakness, if she wishes to have a future in politics this is obviously what she needs to work on. Let us hope that she does, it would be a shame if this was the last of her.

You wonder just how much her media handler tried to get her face time on the major channels. I could have seen her more but they have to want to have you on their shows. It find it amazing that she pulled more votes than Carson after Saturday’s debate, a debate that she was not allowed to participate in.

You’ve obviously never seen her debate. She has a personality all right- a mad dog with whom even I wouldn’t mess! I like Trump an awful lot but I’d take him on before her.

She’s tough, smart, and above all, resilient.

I’m saddened, but her dropping out shows she’s realistic, and like other people said, forces the votes to coalesce around the three front runners.

From the beginning, I liked Fiorina. I wouldn’t be sad over Rubio-Fiorina or Cruz-Fiorina ticket.

I don’t think Trump would pick her as a running mate. Unlike his statement, “I’m great on Women,” Trump seems to be scared of strong women.

Her fall from first place was a direct consequence of the Donalds ability to monopolize the media.  Something that all the other candidates are having  to deal with.    Her getting caught up in the Plan Parenthood video snafu didn’t help as well.   She was one of the better candidates, sorry to see her go.

The bulk of those dropping out have been drawing 1-4% of the votes. Of all those who dropped out since New Hampshire and Iowa, it only frees upto about 10% of the vote. These new undecided voters still won’t make a big impact on South Carolina, or until Jeb or Rubio decided to leave the race.

I think she will wait to see how things shake out and either back Rubio or Cruz. I have a feeling she is open to a VP selection, so she probably won’t endorse, but if either Cruz or Rubio start to appear like the obvious last man standing in the Anybody-but-Trump lane, she may get off the fence and start campaigning with that candidate to help deal the death blow to Trump.

They live in Virginia, so she may conceivably have a political future. Here in California there wasn’t much interest.

Most likely if Carly remains in politics it could running one of those conservative institutions in the DC area. She’d be a good fundraiser for them, and it would be interesting to see how those buttoned-down foundation types take to her management style.

Many Ricochetti lost their “second choice” for President today. So did I, just not her.

Unfortunately it was bound to happen. Carly was a great debater and had presence but media influence (especially in not inviting her to the prime time debates) and the large number of candidates diminished her as the campaign wore on, especially considering how much money Jeb as raised that could have gone to a plethora of candidates had he not ran.

My condolences to Max (and other Fiorina supporters) for his preferred candidate leaving the race.
