For the european perspective on the Paris attacks, we’re lucky to have the indefatigable James Delingpole to cut through the chaff. This week, James and his guest Douglas Murray (his book Islamophilia is a must read) parse all the news from Europe from a decidedly British perspective. James also learns a thing or two about a certain American folk singer.

You guys don’t know James Taylor?

I enjoyed the podcast as I always do.   There was nothing wrong with allowing Douglas Murray to do most of the talking, even though it gave less exposure to the Delingpole wit which is the chief charm of the program.   Your description of the audiences behavior on the program “Free Speech” reminds me of the behavior exhibited by American college students when exposed to ideas that they disagree with.   Apparently the most important lesson learned by students on both sides of the Atlantic is that chanting “Four legs good, two legs bad” in unison is the best way to shut off debate before it has an opportunity to get started.

Good to hear someone outside of Dear Old Deutschland talking about Pegida. Have you heard about the studies indicating that the average Pegida support is a married, law-abiding, well-educated, middle-aged,  middle class person who doesn’t mind going to a Konzert fuer Toleranz e.g. :

    http://www.welt.de/politik/deutschland/article136807699/Pegida-Anhaenger-und-Gegner-beim-selben-Konzert.html

and that the Pegida-opponents are generally younger, tend to be female, tend to be left/Reds/Greenies: http://www.spiegel.de/politik/deutschland/franz-walter-ueber-die-anhaenger-der-gegenbewegung-nopegida-a-1014993.html

Bravo, Gentlemen! A frothy mug of sarcasm and invective, topped off with a delicious dollop of British understatement. Even more fun than GLoP Podcast. Douglas Murray is quite as entertaining as Milo with the long Greek name,  even without the echoes of Anthony Blanche.
