Screen Shot 2015-05-29 at 6.10.52 PMPower Line welcomes Peter Wehner to the show this week to discuss a recent column where Whener asks, “What are the worst foreign policy failures of Barack Obama’s presidency?

In a wide ranging conversation, the gang talks about the rise of ISIS, losing the war in Iraq, failing to aid Iran’s Green Revolution and triggering a nuclear arms race in the Middle East. (And that’s only half of what Wehner has on his list!)

Wehner also talks to the guys about the Reform Conservative movement. What is it? Who is it? Where can we get more of it?

Seems like disparate impact is affirmative action for criminals–if we are letting criminals off on the basis of race.

The other question of the 40-to-50 year old worker who loses the longterm job is “Who’s going to hire them?”

I lost a job at age 56 when I was at the height of my professional abilities (which I have always taken care to keep up-to-date) and it took me 5 years before landing the contract position that after two years resulted in my current full-time position. People are astonished that a 61 year old would get hired as a regular fulltime employee by anyone. Really, it was a miracle on the order of The Parting Of The Red Sea that it happened at all.

The answer for the individual of course is to get off their half moons, get a skills refresh or retrain if needed, and just keep everlastingly after it to turn something up. And prepare to swim up the waterfall of age discrimination that they will encounter.

This is also something I never hear mentioned in discussions about raising the age to collect Social Security and Medicare. Who’s going to hire someone who’s 60 years old and has another 10 or so years of work life to retirement?

    Power Line,

Great Pod Cast. Also, would Jon Mcnaughton mind if I used a copy of his art work with recognition and hyperlink. I think that is one of the funniest things I’ve seen lately. Especially, when you don’t know whether to  laugh or cry, it’s good to laugh.

Thanks for the gratifying, as well as very sobering, conversation.  The pacing was perfect, as well.
