President George W. Bush did a remarkable thing: He carried, for all to see, a copy of Eliot A. Cohen’s book “Supreme Command.” Not many of us have our books publicized that way.
Cohen is the famous foreign-policy analyst, a professor at SAIS (the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University). He has served in the State Department. He also advised Mitt Romney during the 2012 campaign.
With Jay, Cohen talks about a range of subjects: including Bush 43 and Romney. And Obama. He also talks about the Iraq War, the Afghan War, and Iran. Further, he talks about the military: How big should it be? What can it do? What should it do? He reflects on Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, and America’s future. Our country has a lot more going for it than many people suppose, he points out.
Listening to Eliot Cohen is an education and a pleasure. Treat yourself.

I too am sorry that Mitt Romney did not win in 2012.
Mitt Romney was a student of world affairs always. It was and is his area of expertise.
Thank you for this excellent podcast.
Superb interview. His analysis is sobering, but just knowing that such cool and thoughtful minds as Eliot Cohen’s are out there advising the PTB gives me heart and hope.
Good interview. I hope Jay has Mr. Cohen on often.
