Zzzzzzzzzzzz…Seriously, I had to stop after about 2 minutes…I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Some kind of standard politician talk. But after the last few years it would be GREAT to have a farmer’s son who served in the Air Force as President.
Just like it was great to have the first African-American president and just how great it will be to have the first woman president. It is precisely this kind of superficial, touchy-feely thinking that got us into this mess in the first place. We should be choosing presidents like we would choose a doctor to perform a very dangerous and complicated surgery. I don’t care who the doctor’s parents are, whether he came from humble beginnings or was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, whether he is “kind” and “compassionate” or has the bedside manner of Dracula. The only question that ultimately matters is this: Is he any damn good at his job? PERIOD!
Life experiences (farmer’s son) and accomplishments (Air Force pilot) are not irrelevant qualities like those touted in identity politics. They are among the factors it makes sense to consider when judging a candidate for a job he does not yet hold. So I did not think it was boring for him to mention them.
“I’m the the son of a farmer and a former Air Force pilot.” I don’t know about you, but it took me all of 2 seconds to say that. Now that we got that out of the way, what are you actually going to do, Rick Perry, to save this country?
