That image is amazing. Fun fact: Peter dresses that way at Hoover.

When I read “The Ricochet Podcast opening theme was composed and produced by James Lileks.” and saw the rap themed image, I was hoping there was a rap using James’ looped audio from the taping.

You’ll want to listen to the very end of the show…

Wait…the GOP wants to avoid getting out of it’s own way?  Or avoid getting in it’s own way?  Or avoid getting it’s own way?  Or avoid getting out of the way of immigration reform?  Or avoid…ok I’ll stop now…

He cancelled (not his fault, it was his publicist), but I was promised that he’ll be on in the next couple of weeks.

I was gonna make that joke, but in my mind’s eye I couldn’t square the sweater thing with how you’re posed in the image.

The image for this week is great, Yeti, but I’m afraid the image that’s going to stick in my head from this podcast is James’s Christie/Taun-taun. I didn’t just laugh out loud at that one; I embarrassed myself in public!

Had to love David Mamet referring to Clarence Page as “that guy from the Chicago Tribune, Clarence something”

Peter should have left a trail of breadcrumbs from NRO to WSJ for UK.

I do not believe that he uses actual magnetic audio tape.  I could be wrong, but I believe he does it using computers.  I believe he uses an IBM 5100.  (He might actually be John Titor.)

EJ Hill, however, still does his work with a razor blade and tape.  Then he sends the image by pony express directly to Ricochet HQ, located in the 12 story (pre-war Art Deco) Ricochet Building, in midtown Philadelphia, where it is then transmitted using a Bartlane cable picture transmission system directly to the Interwebs.

Mr. Tall: one of my forebears actually did the Taun-taun thing; it’s in a book about early pioneer life. Went out to get the cattle back in a storm and got caught.

All my life I have been hearing that we have the facts on our side, we just did not get the right communicator, the media screwed us, blah, blah, blah.

The problem is the Dems are selling a bird in the hand and we are selling two in the bush.

You need someone who can sell dreams (e.g., Reagan) to pull this off.  People by nature will seek the easier, softer way and need to be inspired to follow our ideas.

Blue Yeti – For the closing theme you should have used “Illegal Alien” by Genesis instead of Springsteen.  Just sayin’.

Yes, I’m from NW Iowa, and the stories I’ve read of settlers on the lonesome prairie included something like this as well. I believe them — when I stop and think about the problems I have to deal with vs the problems my pioneer ancestors faced, well, it’s sobering.

But at least none of our ancestors had to tame the plains accompanied by a testy and perhaps insufficiently-conservative New Jersey governor . . . .

Great outro.  For all of Springsteen’s digressions, musical and otherwise, he can slam home a song like a Pop Tart in a toaster.

Which might explain why he writes lyrics and I write on my hand so I don’t forget to buy milk after work.

The “Ghost of Tom Joad” is a fantastic, mostly sad but in parts uplifting album.  That song is one of them.  He’s singing about home.

Putting aside the philosophical implications of having the government intrude upon and bless every single employment contract before it begins E verify is the most oversold policy reform by people like Mark. It is unreliable, slow, buggy, but to be fair it works better than healthcare.gov

Dear Rob: I had to shut off the podcast whilst you were mid-tirade about impeachment. Here’s why:

    “It makes us look crazy”

TO WHOM? If you’re embarrassed to hold a position, time to wonder who’s this vaunted audience that is going to laugh at you. Here’s a clue: doing the right thing will ALWAYS earn you jeers. You can’t serve God without offending the devil. Learn to endure ridicule and you’ll be a free man.

“We have this great opportunity to show that big gubmint doesn’t work.”

Even if Ocare were going swimmingly it would be wrong on account of IT’S UNCONSTITUTIONAL. You missed that? How?

“As if it’s going to happen.”

Please tell me: what recourse does the citizenry have against a POTUS who so brazenly oversteps his bounds? We should refrain from proposing that he be turfed because your idiot friends will sneer? Because it’s hard to do? Because it’s Just Not Done?

Do write up that script, where the heroes come up against impossible odds and go home, relieved that they won’t be mocked for trying and failing.

    You’re positively inspiring.

Like dicentra, I too got fired up about Rob Long’s diatribe regarding “impeachment” as “NONSENSE! NONSENSE! NONSENSE!”

I agreed totally if Rob was trying to say impeachment of Obama needs to have some or most of the Democrats on-board and not make it a one party thing. However, if he meant to dismiss the research and preparing a case, well, not so much.

I think I would want a further explanation of his thoughts. Perhaps sweetheart, Ann Coulter, who expressed reservations about impeachment of Obama by Republicans, gave Rob the green light to carry Ann’s comments to the penultimate, I don’t know.

Whatever, Rob was way out there and uber-animate. That said, I did get better appreciation of Rob Long and his ability to write TV shows. What an active imagination. Hope he gets another hit show.

James asked and didn’t get an answer: what constitutes an impeachable offense if usurption of the legislative and executvie branches by Obama don’t constitute high crimes and misdemeanors.

Hmmm, Rob? Your response- gotta be quite interesting.

My thought: there are grounds for legitimate impeachment right now but it must be Dems who do it.
