Really enjoyed the Pollak interview. He had a lot to say and comes off as a fair-minded reporter, but your questions made it more interesting too. Brad Thor is awfully full of himself and barely let you get a word in. I’ll cut him a bit of slack since he’s made many millions writing successful novels, but his Never Trump still shows through. I get the feeling he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room.

    Great podcast.

I vaguely recall you mentioning being from Britain before, Dave, but it was clearly unbelievable. On a related note, I’ve heard a few Brits remark about the upcoming game based in London (Watch Dogs: Legion) that they were pleasantly surprised the diversity of accents is finally well represented. But one did say the devs had combined two popular British slangs that are never actually combined, so I’ll wait for you or the queen to tell me otherwise.

Sad to say, the veteran suicide problem is probably not something we can solve by throwing money at it, like Thor suggests. The problem is that we don’t know the problem.

Veterans themselves are best situated to figure out what has changed from decades ago. Is it despair from fighting a war without win conditions? Is it the incredible disconnect between the necessary aggression of war and a self-hating, emasculated, decadent culture at home? In my very limited experience, even veterans who are like family might share a few war stories but seldom open up except to fellow soldiers.

I wonder if groups like Breitbart can work with police departments to limit Democrats’ ability to shut them out with false accusations. If a campaign team prove liars once, are police free to doubt them the second time? Maybe not.

Pollak’s anecdote about Rob Reiner is worth remembering. People behave according to their immediate circumstances. Different situations make relevant different beliefs and traits. That a person is nice and pleasant at dinner parties in personal interactions does not mean that person won’t advocate your enslavement, imprisonment, or worse while apart and thinking as part of a group. Left and Right can be friends in casual settings, but we remain opponents in politics and culture.

In short, don’t let the continuation of pleasant interactions blind you to the potential of imminent tyranny and violence. Immaculee Ilabagiza had tea with her neighbor only weeks before he joined an angry mob out to murder her kind in Rwanda.

The situation in America is rapidly deteriorating. The hiding of Biden might not be clever politics but just a way to hide his senility. I don’t follow news closely enough to judge if clips of him uttering gibberish are truly representative. But if Democrats really do plan to put forth a candidate suffering from advanced senility — a pawn; an empty vessel or placeholder for a quick VP replacement — that is an intolerable abuse of elections and Republicans should be shouting from the rooftops. Who could put faith in elections after that? (He asks of someone living in a one-party state!)

    Thanks GWW!

I may have missed it but didn’t get a Never Trump vibe from Brad. He, like many including myself, are deeply concerned Trump seems to be his own worst enemy when it comes to appealing to the middle, especially those gettable voters who while worried about the Marxists taking power, don’t like the President personally. That matters.

    Aaron, all great points.

I grew up in a cockney household. My Dad was an East-ender (think Michael Caines’ Alfie). I don’t know about any games, but there’s hundreds of dialects in London all with their own Anglo mixed accents. Just call someone ‘Guv’ and you’ll survive.

You really should clearly identify Brad Thor as a NeverTrumper.

He also self identifies as an expert, without realizing he holds this experience in an age of systematic failure of our governmental institutions.

Sure doesn’t lack for self confidence, though.

I was dreading that first interview because the last time I heard Mr. Thor his Trump hatred was off the chart. He wasn’t as unhinged in this interview.
