This is why I listen to Delingpole and Young on GoT. Barely two minutes in and they’ve already messed something up. It was Jon who gave Arya ‘Needle’, not Ned.

James, you might be on to something. Targaryeans do identify as dragons. Dany has said many times that she identifies as a dragon.

In all seriousness, people who hope or think it will end with a Jon+Dany marriage is watching the wrong show.

How can you hate Sheeran? They (thankfully!), gave him few lines, quit it with the crooning, and let the rest of it go. That’s how you have a musician in a show. You have them introduce an interesting bit of flavor text (Hands of Gold), and then mostly stay out of the way.

The plotting and dialogue have gone down hill since they ran out of GRRM source material. That conversation between Jon and Sansa was at the level of some teen show on the WB Network. “One (Weirwood) Tree Hill”.

I would agree that the best writing was in season 1, but I disagree with plotting. If we were following GRRM’s plotting, Sansa would still be in the Vale doing nothing, Arya would still be in Braavos pretending to be random, uninteresting people, and Tyrion and Dany would still not have met. Basically, a plot that never converges.

Is it ThronesCast or ThroneCast? Logo says one thing, title says another…

@pjs As you can see, we threw this show together on a moment’s notice. We’ll get both of these items fixed in the next day or so (and for the record, it’s ThronesCast).

It’s available in the Superfeed on iTunes, and will be available in the old Radio Free Delingpole iTunes listing soon. For various reasons the iTunes url will remain https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/radio-free-delingpole/id563128177?mt=2 but the logo and the title will be ThronesCast.

The plot developments can no longer be attributed to G.R.R.Martin, the show has left the books behind, Benioff & Weiss are responsible now.

Hilarious podcast and happy to hear James and Toby again on Ricochet. In regard to the discussion on feminism, I’d have to agree with James. It was so overbearing in that first episode that I half expected one of the characters break the fourth wall, look at the camera and say “girls run the world”, not unlike this recent delusional Newsweek article. If Lady Mormont does have some battle scenes, she’ll either be a Mary Sue killing white walkers with the greatest of ease using her insanely good skills in the martial arts, or get thrown to the side, killed, and turned into a white walker in a matter of seconds like a 4′ tall 10 year old girl would in real life (lasting about as long as “fearless girl” in her stand off with the Wall Street Bull). Considering the growing intrusion of political correctness into the show, my money is on the former.

One sub plot not discussed in the podcast was the Hound’s vision and his travels with the followers of the lord of light. Where are they going? Will Melisandre make an appearance?
