Rob’s voter-turnout assertions don’t really hold up because there is insufficient evidence that especially the latest oddly-inflated numbers represent valid voters.
We certainly need a great deal of fake-voter suppression.
This lockdown was supposed to be temporary. Originally it was for two weeks, but now it now has gone on for a year. Then the vaccine was to liberate us so we can live normal lives. Then, with the vaccine, we still have a lockdown until we have herd immunity, or there are new vaccines for the new variants, or some other reason. The government issuing IDs implies that this will go on for a lot longer.
This is a terrible disease. I’m glad I just got my vaccine – I’m showing my age. But there has to be a point where the dangers from continued lockdown outweigh the dangers from the disease.
Actually it seems that point was reached months ago, but nobody seems to care, at least nobody in government.
Right on on the importance of shipping containers, @roblong. I think I first realized this from your remarks on the flagship a few years ago.
What rarely appreciated new development in human history has done more to alleviate human suffering, in this case by growing economies and reducing global poverty, than the shipping container? It’s at the top of that list, along with hemmorhoidal suppositories.
We can question the premise of @roblong that so many voted. But he is correct in what follows from the premise–that voter suppression is not a big deal.
Now I actually think that the election was stolen in this sense: Traditional forms of illegal election activities made the difference in multiple swing states.
But the numbers, where estimable, do not point to much of a difference in the Biden totals of 75 million or whatever it is. So I’m ok with the Rob Long premise myself–or close enough.

Yes.
Enablement of illegal voting is suppression of honest voters. Election fraud is disenfranchisement.
That’s one of the big problems with the left’s narrative: that weeding out improper/illegal votes somehow “disenfranchises” valid voters. No, actually the legal voters are effectively “disenfranchised” as soon as the illegal votes are allowed in, which cancels out/dilutes the valid votes.
