Yes, “Jim Geraghty is always wrong.”
Federal and State regulations often require businesses to file certain reports by the end of the year, or pay heavy fines. A major corporation I used to work for would essentially shut down all system changes for the month of December, so that nothing would interfere with the production of EOY reports.
Another thing Jim gets wrong is that, by now, there are probably more so-called “Hallmark“ Christmas movies on other channels than on the two Hallmark channels.
It’s much the way Westerns, some good, some bad, came to dominate TV in the Fifties and Sixties.
