On that final martini, your reasoning is a bit off-base. Yes, they made a mistake. Yes, it was amateur hour. The problem is when you start saying “They don’t deserve a visit from the President.” Even if the organization is not well run, it’s a large group of voters. Would you say, “The Detroit Area Model Railroading Association doesn’t deserve a visit from the President?” Now, they’re not political (if such a group exists by that name) and probably not used to putting on big presentations, but deserve?
An organization for young conservatives actually run by young conservatives. I’m shocked! Jim and Greg are all too eager to sneer at their own side.
Presumably the electronic image they looked at was mislabeled, and too small to clearly show the parodic elements. Not very good parody, though: the motto should have been in Latin, not Spanish.
N.B.: I can still clearly remember Vice President Spiro Agnew making a campaign appearance at an airport in a medium-sized city and, several times, praising the wrong city. And his advance team was made up of well-paid professionals, I’m sure.
Heh, yeah. That is probably before either Jim or Greg were alive.
I am sure they were. The simplest explanation is that Spiro Agnew is an idiot.
Highly unlikely, given that Agnew clawed his way to the top of Maryland’s cutthroat politics. And that he probably had a half-dozen appearances that day.
But then resigned his office in disgrace, and barely managed to get out of a long prison sentence.
I am sure, it was just a memory gaff, its actually surprising that it doesnt happen more, actually. Considering the last week of the campaign, where candidates can be at 4 or 5 rallies a day in 3 states. Anyone could get whiplash on that kind of schedule.
