The good martini has the day off, so brace for three bad ones! Join Jim and Greg as they question New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s failure to change state policy that sends some COVID-19 patients to nursing homes after leaving the hospital. They also cringe at new Senate polls in Montana and North Carolina. And they remain concerned about our food supply chain (and have flashbacks to the 1980’s) as Wendy’s announces some of their locations cannot serve burgers right now.

Those Wendy’s commercials were done by Joe Sedelmaier, who was a creative force in advertising during the 70s and 80s. He came up with funny stuff for all kinds of products.

Here’s a playlist of some of his stuff: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeK5ZjtpO-M&list=PL0sYgsgbBBA8J_xF9AkJGdxz9oBGb5bPB

And here’s the “Soviet Fashion Show” Wendy’s commercial you mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CaMUfxVJVQ&list=PL0sYgsgbBBA8J_xF9AkJGdxz9oBGb5bPB&index=30

I don’t know how it is everywhere else, but the stores and restaurants and businesses that I go to, mostly seem to use the regular size rolls of toilet paper.

Jim Geraghty made the most accurate point at the 11:30 when he said “The Republican Party is the Trump Party.”  We will lose not only the Presidency, but the Senate.  The first four will be in AZ, CO, ME and NC.  But Republicans can also lose GA (special), IA, KY, MT, SC and TX given the myopic tendency of Republican Senators to fall in line for Trump.  In 2018, we lost women, the young, college educated and suburbs.  Now in 2020 we are losing the elderly with Trump’s flubs and failure to plan for COVID-19.  After the wreckage, Republicans will realize the consequence of tying their futures to Trump.

I doubt Trump has much to do with it really.  If seniors or anyone else are dumb enough to believe that JOE BIDEN! would do/have done better at any of these things they are supposedly concerned about, well, that’s just dumb.  Some people are willing to try “this NEW thing!” – which in the case of JOE BIDEN! is actually “this OLD thing!” – whenever there’s any kind of “bump in the road” hardship.  No matter how obviously ridiculous it might be. But there’s no reason to believe, no evidence – in fact, only evidence to the contrary – that JOE BIDEN! could pull his head out of his… underwear… long enough to accomplish anything definitely positive.  And if JOE BIDEN! should happen to win the election, following which the virus situation continues to improve, it absolutely WILL NOT be BECAUSE of JOE BIDEN!!!  But like someone who first takes awful-tasting real medicine, and then eats “magic” candy from a quack and gets better, they may very well credit the quack with their recovery.  They would be wrong, and so would be anyone who votes for JOE BIDEN!!!!

Perhaps. It seems to me, very unscientifically, that voters tend to change parties when things are going well, almost like an ennie meenie minie mo decision. That’s how it works in Michigan.  The future is difficult to predict, and I do think broken clocks are right twice a day. I would be hesitant to call the election this far out.

How to attract the women vote without liberal policies is a difficult task. Women, in general like more government.

Democrats fall in line also, or Biden wouldn’t be being propped up, which just about everyone knows is going on.

Any “predictions” that most people, including – especially! – Gary Robbins end up being “right” about, will really only be because it’s basically a 50/50 coin toss in most situations.  Republican, or Democrat.  So it’s not skill, or talent…  With hundreds of millions of people in the US, some people will appear to be “predicting” accurately but it’s more about chance and numbers.

One notable exception is Gary’s prediction of Klobuchar/Buttigieg victory in November.

But even if the Sweet Meteor Of Death wiped out everyone on Earth except for Klobuchar and Buttigieg and they then elected themselves as Pres and VP (of the whole Earth?), Gary still wouldn’t have made an accurate prediction.  Because it just would have been the result of extraordinarily unlikely coincidence.

Given the relentless propaganda of the liberal media, I am always amazed that the Republicans can win anything.  Their only edge is that their policies are better aligned with reality and common sense; for example, that expanding the power of unions and raising the minimum wage will cause unemployment.

P.S.:  @garyrobbins — I’d be interested to see your predictions before the 2016 election!

P.P.S.:  Do you still believe Trump is suffering from Alzheimer’s, as you insisted around that time?

I’m sure people like Martin Tolchin don’t just want Biden to be coronated as the Democrat nominee.  They want Biden to be coronated as president.
