Another wild day in a very busy week! So grab a stool and join Jim and Greg as they break down the latest headlines. First, they get a kick out of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell immediately following up the impeachment trial by filing cloture on five more judicial nominees. They also feel like wretching as mainstream media figures who savaged Mitt Romney during the 2012 campaign suddenly extol him as a man of faith and principle because he voted the way they wanted him to. But they also spend time highlighting figures on the right who were way over the top in their condemnation of Romney. And they try to make sense out of the latest scraps of conflicting information coming from Democrats in Iowa while also looking ahead to New Hampshire.

Remember, Jim Geraghty is always wrong.
Romney’s vote is not inconsequential, alas.
It increases the chances that the Democrats will win the Presidential election, and take back the Senate. In particular, Susan Collins must consider this a stab in her back.
Aside from “strange new respect”, a possible Romney motive is revenge against Trump for humiliating him.
It’s not like he’s a lifelong Republican, after all, any more than Bloomberg was.
Romney switched to the Republican Party in 1994 to run against Sen. Ted Kennedy, who appeared weak that year. If he has, in fact, helped the Democrats retake the Senate, he may switch back.
Political prognostication skills then, Greg? 😁
In Virginia, polls have closed at 7:00pm. There is a bill in the General Assembly this year to change that to 8:00pm. Democrats think this will help get more Democrat votes.
If you are in line at the closing time, you can vote.
In 2008, when the election was between Obama and Hillary, Jim voted for the Democrat named McCain?
See Taras’ first line in comment #2.
Romney was petty and vindictive. No, I can’t read his mind or his heart, so I have no proof regarding my belief of his actual motive. President Trump was not kind to him, but did endorse him when necessary. Mitt could have abstained.
What would have been his excuse/reason for abstaining? That Trump had endorsed him? Didn’t Trump endorse a lot of Republican senators in their campaigns?
Mormons’ “magic underwear” is not a conspiracy theory. They don’t call it that, of course, but some Mormons do wear religious undergarments.
