Join Jim and Greg as they cautiously cheer Sen. Joe Manchin for calling the Dems’ $3.5 trillion wish list “fiscal insanity.”  They also welcome the news that Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell was able to force Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to agree to fund the government without raising the debt ceiling.  And they’re enraged as the government keeps doing more to thwart than assist private rescue missions out of Afghanistan.

I have mixed feelings about slowing – not stopping, just slowing – the dive off the cliff.  Seems like a fast jump would be easier to show is the Dims’ fault.  While a slow fall could be blamed on Republican “obstruction.”

Erick Erickson had an excellent explanation about why and what Manchin was doing. And I like it, if it goes down as Erick suggests, it may not change the total dollars spent, but should provide some sanity for traditional fossil fuel regulations, vs GND fantasies.
