You’re thinking of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), based on the novel by the same guy who wrote Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
It is rather silly, as one might expect, but conflating slave ownership with vampirism really works.
In Steven Spielberg‘s Lincoln, made the same year, Confederate Vice President Alexander Stephens looks like a vampire, so this idea was in the air.
Hmm – revivals of “political” musicals – sounds like it’s time to bring back “Fiorello.” It’s the only Broadway musical I’ve ever actually seen on Broadway, back when I was a little kid and my parents took me to New York. Tom Bosley played the lead role. It was wonderful! Great story, great music/songs, great acting! I’ve got the cast album on my iPod. Now there was a political musical! Of course, one reason it probably won’t be revived: LaGuardia was a Republican who repeatedly beat Democrats.
