Happy New Year! Grab a stool, as Jim and Greg return to their normal format for 2020. Today, they’re grateful that the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad was successfully stopped and no one was hurt and they also hope there are severe repercussions for the attack’s Iranian sponsors. They’re happy to see Julian Castro exit the campaign trail after a campaign that was rich in pandering but never found much support. And they discuss President Trump’s $102 million cash on hand and the impact that could make in the campaign.

Buttigieg’s success kind of goes against the notion that Democrats have rejected all fresh new faces. They just rejected Julian Castro’s fresh. new face, possibly because the Acela corridor elites see Rhodes Scholar Pete more as one of their own than Castro (who still went to Stanford, but wasn’t on the same East Coast education track that Buttigieg, Obama and Clinton were on, and which also endeared them to East Coast urban liberals).
“And they discuss President Trump’s $102 million cash on hand and the impact that could make in the campaign.”
Well, they mention it, but they don’t really discuss its impact.
If they had, they might have pointed out that this only partly cancels out the enormous value of the free media the Democratic candidate will get.
I loved how folks were immediately trying to give Trump a Benghazi moment.
The way I heard/read it, there was a lot of machine-gun fire from the embassy roof, especially. Which didn’t happen in Benghazi because Obama and Hillary didn’t give them the additional protection that had been requested over and over.
Exactly.
