Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America welcome word that a federal investigation will be opened into how a prominent Indiana abortion provider allied with Pete Buttigieg ended up with more than 2,000 fetal remains in his home. They also shake their heads as Kamala Harris not only calls for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to be impeached but also contends that Christine Blasey Ford was “treated like a criminal” and that the Kavanaugh confirmation created a “crisis of confidence” in the Supreme Court. And Jim has plenty to say as the two New York Times reporters behind the latest Kavanaugh allegation insist their original article included the fact the supposed victim has no memory of the incident but their editors took it out of the story.

That quote of Kamala Harris made it sound as if she’d been practicing her Yiddish.
Granted that is macabre to medically preserve thousands of fetuses (does that mean they were kept in jars of formaldehyde?), but every way of disposing of a dead body is a bit macabre. When we lost our baby, the fetus was disposed of as medical waste. Our doctor could not even imagine why I was curious about what my baby looked like since he considered it just a clump of cells (a dead clump of cells).
By medically preserving the fetuses, didn’t this doctor make it more obvious that they were not mere medical waste? Does medical waste have arms, legs or a face? Did he not make it more obvious that persons were killed by the abortions?
For a parent, I can understand that connection. For a doctor, the only thing I can come up with is subjects for experimentation, which is illegal I’m almost certain, or some kind of trophy, like taxidermy, the thought of which causes at least one of us to shudder.
This Indiana matteer has generated a predictable hysteria with pundits crying “Oh, horror!” and general wailing and gnashing, etc.
What has not been amde clear is what law has been broken? Aside from it seeming to be a bizarre hobby, you will find any number of museums and the like with collections of preserved body parts. Just consider the traveling exhibit in which preserved bodies have been on display stripped of their skin and drawing large crowds. Or, remember the book by science guru Carl Sagan, Broca’s Brain. Just what was the focus of his ruminations?
So why the hysteria? Might it be that if this had been found in another state, say one with no current presidential candidate (I know, that is a rather small filed), this would have generated no interest at all?
You forgot one detail.
The “traveling exhibit in which preserved bodies have been on display stripped of their skin” consisted of Chinese political prisoners who had been put to death.
A proper forensic examination of the fetuses would probably reveal that some of them were illegal, late term abortions, and that some of them were infanticide. By contrast, Kermit Gosnell destroyed nearly all of his “medical exhibits” when he realized the government was after him.
After all, the easiest way to perform a late term “abortion” is to deliver the child alive and then kill it.
