Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America go through the transcript of the Trump phone call with Ukrainian Pres. Volodymyr Zelensky and conclude virtually no minds will be changed by it when it comes to impeachment.  They also explain why the transcript is still bad for President Trump and possibly Joe Biden.  And they get a good laugh at 2016 presidential afterthought and fake conservative Evan McMullin taking credit for the launch of the House impeachment inquiry.

Except to those who want there to be there. My reaction to those who are still pulling their chins over this conversation is “what is wrong with those people?”

Unfortunately one of those people is Jim Geraghty.   When I finally read the transcript, it was not much like what his account had led me to expect.

And Jim also seems to forget that while the president appoints the director of the FBI, he doesn’t appoint all the others such as the other Peter Strzoks that might still be waiting in the wings to misbehave.

You two noticed that, huh? And I did not have to say any names.

The President appoints a few thousand people to “run” a bureaucracy of millions.

Not to mention that, as often as not, the President has no choice but to appoint an insider, rather than anyone who might be described as a follower or loyalist; for example, Gina Haspel at the CIA.
