Ricochet is the best place on the internet to discuss the issues of the day, either through commenting on posts or writing your own for our active and dynamic community in a fully moderated environment. In addition, the Ricochet Audio Network offers over 50 original podcasts with new episodes released every day.
Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America recoil in horror as an avowed neo-Nazi opens fire in a Pittsburgh-area synagogue, killing eleven people and wounding others because he thought all Jews needed to die. They also discuss the liberal insistence that this is the year young voters really show up at the polls, but early voting does not suggest that’s happening. And they roll their eyes as Twitter considers scrapping the “like” button to stop hateful messages from going viral. They also react in very different ways following the Bears’ win over the Jets on Sunday.

Gab is not a “despicable” site. It’s a site that believes in free speech.
This one guy was despicable.
I’m a fan of the show and listen to every episode, but I had a problem with this broadcast. After listening to the somber tone of the latest Commentary podcast, it was quite jarring to hear this podcast start out with all of the light-hearted banter and laughter about yesterday’s football game. I thought it inappropriate and bad form. Ha ha! And for our first martini, some Jews were slaughtered. Greg and Jim, you can do better. :(
I have an account on Gab, but I barely use it. I have encountered some despicable people on it, but Twitter swamps Gab on that metric. Many of Twitter’s most egregious floats in the parade of horribles sport blue checks and big followings.
Free speech is the new despicable, even for American conservatives?
Apparently, and having big corporations do everything they can to shut down a small free-speech platform is also the new conservative.
I agree the tone of this episode was wrong. IF you’re going to have comical segments, perhaps drop the sombre news for another day. It happened over the weekend, its not breaking news – you can hold off reporting on it until further events warrant an update.
Gab sounds like what twitter should be – a place where people can publish their thoughts – even ugly ones – without being censored. Like a common carrier should behave. Also people who spout such ugliness in public should come to the attention of FBI or law enforcement, perhaps they could be the starting point of felony vandalism or more serious investigations. A lot of people will just vent and are done with it – and to certain extent that might be healthier than someone who bottles up all this garbage until it explodes at some random event.
