Jim Geraghty of National Review and Greg Corombos of Radio America groan as Rush Limbaugh says Donald Trump’s trillion dollar infrastructure bill could be a big success – just like FDR.  They also get a kick out of Democrats getting really excited over the prospect of a 78-year-old Joe Biden running for president in 2020.  And Jim unloads on a “faithless elector” from Texas, who says he cannot cast a vote for Trump.

Reposting my comment from the elector discussion:

I was at the Texas Republican state convention, and it should be noted that electors are an elected position- the state delegates always divide into Congressional districts and elect who will be their elector, along with their national convention delegates. Usually, multiple people want to be an elector, and they all talk about how excited they are to vote for the candidate, and how they can be in Austin on the date necessary. The state convention was held after Trump had secured the nomination, but before the national convention, so there was a very small chance the national convention would have chosen someone else, but the overwhelmingly likeliest outcome was Trump being the nominee. Not only did this guy sign an oath, he probably lied to get elected by his fellow delegates. A guy in my CD ran for elector under the “I’ll do what’s necessary to stop Trump” banner, and got one vote- his own.

For reference, I was #NeverTrump, voted for McMullin, and feel great about it. But this is pathetic. The elector shouldn’t have volunteered, and he should resign.

I agree.  I read his sanctimonious article (assuming it was the same Elector), and was appalled.  He was a first responder at 9/11, but that provides him no moral authority, nor does it provide him the right to shirk his duty to vote for Trump.
