I think the North Korean dictator is counting on America’s long record of betraying and abandoning its allies in that part of the world: Nationalist China, our ally against Japan (while the Chinese communists hid in their caves); Vietnam and Cambodia, of course; Taiwan, when we blocked it from getting nukes to balance Red China’s, and then let the UN give its seat to Red China (which has been a thorn in our side ever since).
